Officers and soldiers of Bat Mot Border Guard Station help people overcome the consequences of natural disasters.
The recent storms and heavy rains have severely affected border communes such as Tam Thanh, Na Meo, Tam Chung, Muong Lat, Quang Chieu, and Bat Mot. Many families have lost their homes and property, and their lives have become very difficult. In response to this situation, the Provincial Border Guard Command, in coordination with local authorities, launched a campaign to help people overcome the consequences. Using their experience and sense of responsibility, border guard officers and soldiers mobilized the maximum number of personnel and resources to help people reinforce their homes, move property and livestock out of areas at risk of deep flooding; secure houses, schools, and public works; and stand guard at critical points to ensure the safety of the people.
Following the floods, officers and soldiers of the provincial Border Guard Command also coordinated with other units to repair damaged infrastructure such as schools, health stations, and transportation routes. In villages and hamlets, the Border Guard also directly participated in labor to help people clean up mud and debris, harvest crops, and restore agricultural production so that people could quickly stabilize their lives.
According to a report from the Thanh Hoa Provincial Border Guard Command, during recent natural disasters, the provincial Border Guard actively coordinated with local authorities and other forces to prevent, mitigate, and overcome the consequences of natural disasters. The unit deployed 406 vehicles and 3,625 officers and soldiers to participate in disaster prevention and mitigation; assisted in repairing and rebuilding 155 houses, relocated 705 households to safe areas, and cleared numerous landslides causing traffic congestion. They guided and urged 4,240 vehicles to seek safe shelter, reinforced 250 houses, and assisted in repairing and rebuilding 98 damaged or roof-damaged houses. In addition, the provincial Border Guard also coordinated the development of many long-term support programs. They guided people in applying technical measures to better withstand natural disasters, such as building flood-resistant houses, constructing drainage canals, and developing sustainable agricultural models. Training courses on disaster prevention and control are also widely organized, helping people raise awareness and proactively respond when natural disasters occur.
In particular, the Border Guard also cooperates with social organizations, allocating resources to support families in extremely difficult circumstances, helping them obtain capital for production and providing interest-free loans to restore their economy .
