At about 8:00 a.m. the same day, in the Ha Mai sea area, fishing boat number QB 98088 TS urgently brought Mr. Nguyen Van S. (born in 1977, from Quang Tri ) to Co To island. Mr. S. had an accident while fishing at sea, with symptoms of severe headache, hemiplegia and facial paralysis, suspected of having a stroke.

At Van Don Regional General Hospital - Facility 2 (on Co To Island), after examination and CT scan, doctors determined that the patient had hemorrhage in the left pontine nucleus - corona, along with high blood pressure and other old injuries. This is a serious case, requiring urgent transfer to a provincial hospital for intensive treatment. However, at this time, the Co To sea area is under the influence of the Northeast monsoon, with large waves of level 5-6, making travel by sea dangerous and risky.

Faced with that critical situation, Co To Border Guard Station immediately mobilized 1 motorboat and 3 officers and soldiers to coordinate with Van Don Regional General Hospital - Facility 2 to quickly transport the patient through the storm to the mainland. The patient was handed over to the medical force at the upper level for further treatment, helping to increase the chance of recovery.

Mr. S's health is currently stable and is being monitored.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Trung Kien, Chief of Co To Border Guard Station, said that since the beginning of the year, the unit has coordinated to bring patients to the mainland for emergency treatment three times.

Previously, on September 5, the unit coordinated to successfully rescue Mr. Pham Van Thanh (from Quang Ngai ), a crew member who had an accident and a serious stroke while operating about 20 nautical miles southeast of Co To Island. The force provided first aid and brought the victim to Bach Long Vi Island, then continued to bring him to the mainland for intensive emergency care. On September 9, the unit mobilized a motorboat and officers and soldiers to urgently take Mr. Dao Manh Hung, who was bitten by a cobra, to Van Don for treatment at night.
