During the recent flood, the Kien Giang Secondary School campus was flooded over 50cm. Thanks to proactive disaster prevention and control work, the school's assets and teaching and learning equipment were not damaged. However, after the water receded, a large amount of mud and garbage was left along the first floor classrooms and the school yard.

Kien Giang Secondary School currently has 38 staff and teachers. The total number of students in the school is 17 classes, 657 students.
With the motto "where the water recedes, we clean up", Kien Giang Secondary School mobilized all staff, teachers; parents' association; students, especially with the support of 100 officers and soldiers of the Border Guard to clean up, collect garbage, mud, restore a clean and beautiful landscape, and ensure safety to welcome students back to school.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Ho Phu Vinh, Deputy Political Commissar, Provincial Border Guard Command: In addition to establishing a concentrated shock force as at present, on the two border lines, Border Guard officers and soldiers of the stations have organized shock teams together with the Party Committee, government, socio- political organizations and people to overcome the consequences of floods with practical work, such as: repairing houses to help people, restoring landslides on roads; cleaning schools, cultural houses, agency headquarters...
