Ministry of Education and Training asks for comments on revised curriculum for some subjects

GD&TĐ - The Ministry of Education and Training has just issued Official Letter No. 4480/BGD&DT-GDPT to the Departments of Education and Training regarding comments on the revised curriculum of a number of subjects.

This amendment is to meet the requirements of rearranging provincial-level administrative units and implementing two-level local government.

Responding to the requirements of administrative unit rearrangement

The 2018 general education program has been implemented for 5 years nationwide, just enough for one cycle for all grades. The Ministry of Education and Training has organized a review and research to develop the general education program to find solutions to limit the program's shortcomings, making the program more suitable to reality.

At this time, the whole country has implemented the arrangement of provincial-level administrative units according to Resolution No. 202/2025/QH15 dated June 12, 2025 of the National Assembly on the arrangement of provincial-level administrative units. The change of administrative boundaries and the implementation of a two-level government directly affects the curriculum of four subjects: History and Geography from grades 4 to 9; Geography grade 12; History grade 10 and Civic Education grade 10, so it is necessary to revise the curriculum of these subjects.

Therefore, the issuance of the Circular amending and supplementing the General Education Program issued with Circular No. 32/2018/TT-BGD&DT of the Minister of Education and Training is necessary to ensure the scientific and practical nature of the program.

Some content expected to be edited

For Civic Education: amend and supplement the 10th grade curriculum on the topics of the Political System of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

For History subject: amend and supplement the Selected Study Topic in grade 10: Vietnamese State and Law in History.

For the Geography sub-subject in History and Geography: amend and supplement the program in grades 4, 5, 8, 9 and Geography in grade 12, the main revisions are on socio-economic regions such as: regional boundaries; names and number of provinces and cities, area size, population of the region; economic development resources and development situation and distribution of economic sectors in socio-economic regions; administrative maps; population maps, maps of sectors and economic regions in Vietnam.

For the History sub-subject in History and Geography: amend and supplement the program in grade 7: divergence according to European History, in grade 9: divergence of the Renovation process in Vietnam from 1986 to present.

The issuance of the circular amending and supplementing the General Education Program issued together with Circular No. 32/2018/TT-BGD&DT of the Minister of Education and Training ensures that the General Education Program updates content in accordance with changes, ensuring the scientific nature and practicality of social science subjects in the general education program.

The issuance of the circular amending and supplementing the General Education Program is the legal basis for considering and revising textbooks to suit reality.

The Ministry of Education and Training requests that the Departments of Education and Training organize comments on the draft revised curriculum of the above subjects and send them to the Ministry of Education and Training before August 8, 2025.
