Ministry of Education and Training reduces 5 units after restructuring and streamlining

After being reorganized and streamlined, the organizational structure of the Ministry of Education and Training has been reduced from 23 to 18 units. The implementation will start from March 1.

On February 27, the Ministry of Education and Training announced that the Government had issued Decree No. 37/2025/ND-CP stipulating the functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Education and Training is a Government agency, performing the function of state management of preschool education, general education, vocational education, university education, continuing education; vocational skills development; state management of Vietnamese language and ethnic languages; state management of public services within the scope of state management of the Ministry.

Decree No. 37/2025/ND-CP stipulates that the organizational structure of the Ministry of Education and Training is reduced from 23 to 18 units, including: Department of Preschool Education; Department of General Education; Department of Higher Education; Department of National Defense and Security Education; Department of Students; Department of Legislation; Department of Organization and Personnel; Department of Planning and Finance; Office;

Inspectorate; Department of Teachers and Educational Managers; Department of Quality Management; Department of Science, Technology and Information; Department of International Cooperation; Department of Vocational Education and Continuing Education; Education & Times newspaper; Education magazine; Vietnam Institute of Educational Sciences.

The General Department of Vocational Education and the Department of Continuing Education shall continue to perform their duties and powers as prescribed by law until the Minister of Education and Training issues a decision regulating the functions, duties, powers and organizational structure of the Department of Vocational Education and Continuing Education. The deadline for completion is before March 31.

Decree No. 37 takes effect from March 1; replacing Decree No. 86/2022/ND-CP dated October 24, 2022 of the Government stipulating the functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of the Ministry of Education and Training.
