Ministry of Information and Communications announces Technology Map in 8 fields

On October 9, the Ministry of Information and Communications held a third-quarter state management conference with management subjects in Hanoi. The conference was chaired by Comrade Nguyen Manh Hung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Information and Communications with the participation of 5 Deputy Ministers, representatives of units under the Ministry of Information and Communications, representatives of associations, enterprises in the information and communications industry, publishers and press and media agencies.

Minister Nguyen Manh Hung commented: “Our information and communications sector is undergoing revolutionary changes. Digital technology has created this change. The future is no longer an extension of the past. We must create our own new future based on digital technology.”

At the Conference, the Ministry of Information and Communications announced the Technology Map for the information and communications sector. The technology map for the 8 sectors of the management ministry is considered a tool to support management, forecasting, guiding, deciding on the selection, acceptance, application, investment in research and development of technology in an optimal way, achieving the highest efficiency.

Each technology map consists of a document describing and evaluating each technology in detail and a graphic page (map) showing concise information about the technologies that have a significant impact on the field, with 4 types of information: technology maturity level, technology impact level, and stages of technology expectations over time.

The technology map will be used by state management agencies as a tool to support state management, develop guiding strategies, build short-term, medium-term and long-term implementation plans in line with the development of technology associated with the development strategy of the industry and sector; support units and enterprises in making decisions on the application and deployment of new technology, avoiding investing too early or too late when the technology is outdated.

According to Mr. Luu Dinh Phuc - Director of the Press Department, although the press field is not a technology field, it cannot lack technology. Currently, the press has a technology map consisting of 12 technologies, orienting technology for the press field in the coming years, especially with technology that solves many problems that have existed for many years in terms of automation of operations, user experience, with digital platform technology, voice recognition, personalization of user experience, robots, voice synthesis from text, etc.

In the digital age, science , technology and innovation are evolving very rapidly, having profound, breakthrough and multi-dimensional impacts on a global scale and becoming decisive factors for the competitiveness of industries, fields and all countries.
