According to information from the Food Safety Department, in the April 24 evening news program of Vietnam Television (VTV), the investigation police agency, Ministry of Public Security , discovered a number of fake and substandard food products, including two health protection products suspected to be fake of Herbitech Technology Company Limited (address: Block 8, Phu Lo Commune, Soc Son District, Hanoi City).
Specifically, the two products suspected of being counterfeit include Baby Shark and Medi Kid Calcium K2 - health food products introduced by this company as having the effect of supplementing micronutrients for newborns who are weak, have low resistance and have poor appetite. However, according to the investigation results of the authorities, the Baby Shark product has been determined to be counterfeit.
The Food Safety Department recommends that people should not use these two products until there is an official conclusion from the investigation agency, to ensure health safety. At the same time, the Department also commits to closely coordinate with relevant agencies to continue providing timely and accurate information to people.
According to information from a VTV program, the police discovered subjects producing counterfeit goods, including health protection foods, with a process of mass producing counterfeit products according to customer requests.
To bring these fake products to market, the subjects will send product samples for testing at authorized testing facilities. However, if the test results do not meet the requirements, these subjects will collude with testing companies to edit the results or even falsify the test certificates.
According to information from the police, Herbitech Company has about 200 products processed and manufactured in this way. The company's inspection certificates were also found to have had their product specifications altered, raising doubts about the authenticity of the products the company supplied to the market.
Meanwhile, Major Nguyen Van Thanh, representative of the Office of the Police Investigation Agency, Ministry of Public Security, said that counterfeit goods producers and traders have sought to deceive consumers by mass-producing poor quality products and releasing them to the market. The production of counterfeit goods, especially health protection foods, is not only a violation of the law but also seriously affects the health of consumers.
Previously, in April 2025, the Ministry of Public Security dismantled a large-scale fake milk powder production, trading and consumption ring in Hanoi and neighboring provinces. The police agency also prosecuted and temporarily detained 8 subjects for producing and trading fake food products and violating accounting regulations with serious consequences.
The Food Safety Department recommends that when buying health food products, especially those for children, people should pay attention to checking the origin, source and related information to avoid buying fake, counterfeit goods that do not guarantee quality.
The Department also pledged to coordinate with relevant authorities to ensure public health safety and provide timely information on the situation of health protection products on the market.
People also need to be cautious and avoid using any products that show signs of doubt or have not been confirmed in terms of quality to protect the health of themselves and their families, especially products that have direct effects on children's health.
