Ministry of Health revokes a series of health food declaration papers

List of revoked declaration papers of 10 health protection foods

On May 21, the Food Safety Department ( Ministry of Health ) announced the decision to cancel the registration of product declarations for 10 health protection foods announced by Nam Viet Biotechnology Joint Stock Company (in Dien Phu commune, Dien Khanh district, Khanh Hoa province).

The recall list includes Enterbacillus liquid probiotics, BIOLAC PLUS probiotic granules, MELATONINB6, BIOLAC FORT, NEOTUBE... This company proactively requested to withdraw documents related to the above products from the beginning of May.

Similarly, two products Sadi Slim Plus of Hoang Huy Organic Trading and Development Company Limited (Tay Ho District, Hanoi ) and Chocodiet of Loewy Brand Company Limited (formerly in Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City, now renamed Staywell Trading Company Limited) also had their registration certificates revoked. The reason is that the enterprise requested to cancel the records and stop production and business.

According to regulations, to be circulated, these products must have a certificate of registration of the declaration issued by the Food Safety Department. However, from the end of April to the beginning of May, many businesses sent documents requesting to withdraw their product declaration documents.

The Food Safety Department said the main reason for the recall was that the units voluntarily withdrew.

In October 2023, Abbott Healthcare Vietnam Co., Ltd. also sent a letter requesting to voluntarily withdraw the declaration of 18 products due to "no production and business plan". At the same time, a number of companies submitted applications to withdraw their documents but have only now been resolved due to Decree 15/2018 does not clearly stipulate the cases of revocation of product declaration registration certificates. Recently, the Food Safety Department has consulted the Ministry of Health and issued a decision to revoke these documents.

Although many companies voluntarily withdrew their declarations, the Ministry of Health has recently continuously discovered fake and poor quality medicines, cosmetics, health protection foods, and functional foods, forcing them to recall and destroy them. The Ministry will continue to strengthen inspection and supervision of pharmaceutical supply, production, and trading establishments, requiring full invoices and documents, and tightening control on e-commerce platforms as well as social networks.
