The first Green-Clean-Beautiful Medical Facility Competition lasts from August 2024 to the end of May 2025, with the participation of more than 2,000 medical facilities across 34 provinces and cities, creating a vibrant emulation movement in building a green, clean and beautiful medical facility environment, contributing to improving the working environment, making medical staff more committed and dedicated to their work.

Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan emphasized this at the Award Ceremony of the First Green-Clean-Beautiful Medical Facility Competition, which took place on the evening of August 7 in Hanoi.

According to the Minister of Health, the contest demonstrates the determination of the health sector in improving the quality of health services, and is a practical activity to concretize the policies of the Party and State on protecting people's health in conjunction with environmental protection and sustainable development.

Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan emphasized that a green medical facility is not just adding a few rows of trees and flower pots. It is the mindset of a sustainable medical ecosystem, where energy is proactively saved, plastic waste is minimized, and medical examination and treatment activities are linked to environmental protection. That is the profound message of "prevention is better than cure" for the health of the whole community and the planet. A clean medical facility is not just a space without any dirt. It is an absolutely safe treatment environment, minimizing the risk of cross-infection, protecting the health of both patients and doctors.

A “Beautiful” medical facility is not just about architectural aesthetics. It is the beauty of dedication, of a healing space, where physical pain is soothed and the patient’s spirit is at peace and trustful. It is comprehensive care, the medicine of compassion.

According to the Minister of Health, it is commendable that this movement not only has the participation of the public health system but also records the enthusiastic participation of private health facilities. This affirms the correct policy of the Party in Resolution No. 10 on private economic development, creating a combined strength, a healthy competition to improve the quality of services, serving the people better and better.

“Along with these achievements, we also frankly acknowledge the difficulties and challenges: limited resources, cramped urban areas, and especially the enormous workload that is weighing heavily on the shoulders of the medical staff. Today’s award ceremony is not the destination, but the beginning of a new phase with higher determination, stronger and more comprehensive actions,” the Minister of Health emphasized.

According to the Organizing Committee, the rules and criteria for evaluating the participating units of the contest are strict, objective and impartial, through 3 scoring parts: First, the medical facility scores itself according to the Green-Clean-Beautiful Medical Facility Criteria issued with Decision No. 5959/QD-BYT dated December 31, 2021 of the Minister of Health. Second, the score is based on the actual video of the medical facility as well as any initiatives. Third, the score is based on the QR-code results of the Contest that people scan and evaluate at the participating medical facility. The score of each medical facility is the average score of the judges. The Jury at all levels scores independently and accurately according to the correct scale of the answers. The Jury of the Ministry of Health has conducted field inspections at a number of medical facilities.

The participation of patients and their relatives in evaluating the green-clean-beautiful quality of medical facilities is a breakthrough highlight and a testament to the success of the contest and the application of digital transformation in the medical field. Nearly 350,000 patients, relatives and people participated in the survey and contributed their opinions via QR codes.
