Ministry of Health 'blows whistle' on a series of functional foods sold on Shopee and Lazada without a license

The Food Safety Department (Ministry of Health) has just discovered many functional foods that have not been granted a certificate of registration for advertising product declaration but have been doing business on e-commerce platforms Lazada and Shopee.

The Food Safety Department ( Ministry of Health ) said that through post-inspection of the implementation of regulations on registration of declarations and self-declarations, production and trading of functional foods, the department discovered a number of functional food products belonging to the group of health protection foods sold on e-commerce platforms.

Specifically, some products advertised and sold on the Lazada e-commerce platform include Omega 3-6-9 1600mg; Natto Kinase 4000fu; Estroven - Complete Multi - Sympton; Kirkland Glucosamine 1500mg & Chondroitin 1200mg; Glucosamine 1500mg With MSM 1500mg.

Products Omega 3-6-9 1600mg; Natto Kinase 4000fu; Estroven - Complete Multi - Sympton; Kirkland Glucosamine 1500mg & Chondroitin 1200mg; Glucosamine 1500mg With MSM 1500mg are being advertised and sold on the Shopee e-commerce platform.

The Food Safety Department stated that these products have not been granted a certificate of product declaration registration.

To ensure the health and rights of users as well as the production and trading of functional foods in compliance with the provisions of law, the Department of Food Safety has issued an official dispatch requesting Lazada Vietnam E-commerce Company Limited and Shopee Company Limited to seriously strengthen the management of functional food products, immediately stop trading, and remove information about the above products.

The Department recommends that companies urgently review the business and electronic transactions of functional food products.

Only trade in functional food products that have been granted a certificate of product declaration registration by a competent state management agency, or have been announced on the Food Safety Data Information System according to regulations.

At the same time, report the results in writing to the Department of Food Safety, Ministry of Health before May 30.
