In the early morning of May 30, Djokovic won 3-0 (6-3, 6-2, 7-6) against Corentin Moutet to advance to the third round of Roland Garros 2025.
The result puts Djokovic in the third round of Roland Garros for the 20th time in his career, a record that even Rafael Nadal has never achieved. If he wins two more matches, he will reach the quarterfinals of the prestigious clay-court tournament for the 16th consecutive time.
Notably, in 2024, he had to withdraw before the quarterfinals due to a torn meniscus in his right knee in the fourth round match and needed surgery. Djokovic currently owns three of his record 24 Grand Slam titles in Paris.
In the match against French player Moutet at Suzanne-Lenglen court, Djokovic was unexpectedly broken in the first game amid enthusiastic cheers from the home crowd.
However, he quickly regained control of the match. Trouble only really came when the score was 2-2 in the third set. After a forehand miss, Djokovic appeared to be in pain and had to stop the match so that medical professionals could take care of and bandage his blistered big toe.

Moutet then took the opportunity to break the game and lead 4-2 in the third game. Djokovic immediately claimed the break, but was down 6-5 and his opponent had a set point. However, Moutet missed a backhand and when the tiebreak came, Djokovic showed superior character to win.
After the match, Djokovic revealed he spent nearly an hour in treatment, including having blood drawn from his toe, something he described as "not very pleasant".
However, the Serbian tennis player was optimistic: "I have a lot of time to recover and be ready for the next match. I don't think I will have any problems in the next match."
