The Vietnamese team ended the FIFA Day in March with two matches. That was a friendly match with Cambodia and a match with Laos in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. These were also the first matches of the Vietnamese team since winning the 2024 ASEAN Cup. Coach Kim Sang-sik and the coaching staff also had plans to replace Nguyen Xuan Son. This is the period when the Vietnamese team is also looking for new factors. Young players are called up and used at different times.

Although the Vietnamese team still has many problems to overcome, the goals set by the coaching staff in the first training session of the year have been partly achieved. This is just the warm-up stage for the Vietnamese team in the upcoming journey.

The Vietnamese team will not have any major international tournaments in 2025. The goal that coach Kim Sang-sik and his team are aiming for is to win a ticket to the final round of the 2027 Asian Cup. Therefore, each match is prepared quite carefully. This is also the stage for coach Kim Sang-sik to look for forces to build a quality squad, laying the foundation for 2026 with many bigger goals.

Meanwhile, the U22 Vietnam team finished the CFA Team China 2025 tournament on March 25. We had quality matches with opponents U22 Korea, U22 Uzbekistan and U22 China. In this tournament, U22 Vietnam had a pretty good performance when "knowing yourself, knowing your opponent", choosing a reasonable playing style and achieving what you wanted against opponents who were considered stronger. That is the tactical mark of coach Dinh Hong Vinh.

As coach Dinh Hong Vinh commented on the first two opponents: “In the match against U22 Korea, the team played resiliently and at times caused difficulties for the opponent. In the match against U22 Uzbekistan, the players made adjustments, especially in the defensive organization, helping us keep a clean sheet.

We were well prepared and the players executed their play well. The defense played with concentration, maintained good team size, and did not leave many gaps for the opponent to exploit. In attack, the team had some opportunities but could not make good use of them.

This is something we will continue to improve to achieve higher efficiency in the upcoming matches. Overall, this was a useful match, helping U22 Vietnam hone their skills when facing strong Asian teams."

In 2025, the highest goal of the Vietnam U22 team is the 33rd SEA Games. This is also one of the biggest goals that Vietnamese football is aiming for this year. The fact that the host country Thailand does not expand the age range in men's football requires the coaching staff to make careful calculations in terms of personnel.

The U22 Vietnam team will certainly need to strengthen its personnel. Names such as Quoc Viet, Thanh Nhan, Van Khang, Dinh Bac, Thai Son or Vi Hao... are prominent faces. They also participated in many international tournaments. In the next 8 months, the coaching staff will have many choices among 50-60 young faces.

Vietnamese football has made an important step forward in 2025. In the coming time, coach Kim Sang-sik will have a lot of work to do to complete the goals, the focus of which is the 33rd SEA Games.

Vietnam women's futsal confident of chance to win ticket to World Cup

On March 25 at Thai Son Nam Stadium, District 8 (HCMC), VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan and VFF Vice President Tran Anh Tu, on behalf of the VFF Executive Committee, met to encourage and assign tasks to the national men's and women's futsal teams.

VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan assessed that the achievement of the Vietnamese women's futsal team winning the championship for the first time in Thailand is very proud, along with that, the men's futsal team after many years of effort also regained the regional runner-up position.

This is one of the impressive achievements, creating motivation for futsal to aim for the goals in 2025. Based on the achieved results, VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan emphasized that the two Vietnamese futsal teams will have to aim for many important goals in 2025. The women's futsal team participating in the Asian Women's Futsal Finals, if they show their form and confidence, the opportunity to win a ticket to the 2025 Women's Futsal World Cup is feasible.

The failure of the men's futsal team to qualify for the recent World Cup is regrettable, but it is a motivation to strive. 2025 is considered a pivotal year for the Vietnamese men's futsal team. Success does not come easily, so everyone must focus fully. VFF has been investing systematically and better with overseas training trips, participation in friendly tournaments/matches, domestic tournaments with plans to increase the number of matches...

For the 2025 SEA Games, the goal of the 4 national football teams is to reach the final. However, to achieve this, each goal must be set, which is: passing the group stage to the semi-finals and finally the final.

Currently, the National Women's Futsal Team is preparing for the 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship. During this preparation period, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hoang and his team will have a training and friendly match in Japan, then continue to China to play a friendly match with the Chinese Women's Futsal Team. Meanwhile, the Vietnam Men's Futsal Team is also gathering to prepare for the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship and the 2025 SEA Games with 4 friendly matches against 2 teams Saudi Arabia and Kazakhstan.
