According to Traffic Police Team No. 14, in Hanoi , it is not difficult to see old, worn-out motorbikes that have expired, have no license plates, and do not meet technical requirements, but are still pulling homemade cargo containers carrying bulky goods on the road. Most of these vehicles are the means of livelihood of a group of people, even though they know that driving them is illegal and unsafe.
The task force of Traffic Police Team No. 14 handled three-wheeled vehicles and homemade vehicles carrying bulky goods, causing traffic safety problems.
People’s frustration with this type of vehicle is evident because homemade vehicles often carry oversized and overloaded goods, overtake, weave, swerve, climb sidewalks, run red lights, drive in the wrong direction, and drive recklessly while on the road. This behavior increases the risk of accidents and traffic jams on the streets…
Most drivers of this type of vehicle know that their vehicle is prohibited by law, so to avoid control by authorities, vehicle owners often take advantage of the time from 11am to 2pm or from 8pm to 10pm to transport bulky, dangerous goods, construction waste, goods, etc.
Recorded by CAND Newspaper reporters when following the working group of Traffic Police Team No. 14 on duty at Pham Tu - Cau Buu intersection (Thanh Tri district, Hanoi).
These "supercars" transport all kinds of goods, from construction steel, towering cardboard boxes, tall and heavy wooden furniture to even sheets of corrugated iron nearly ten meters long, making passersby panic, because they are no different from "death vehicles", lurking to cause trouble at any time.
Steel boxes tens of meters long make this type of vehicle moving on the road extremely dangerous.
All violations are strictly punished by traffic police.
The police drew up a record of the violation and asked the driver to unload the load at the traffic checkpoint and then transport the bulky goods back by another vehicle in accordance with traffic laws.
Working with the police, the offending driver admitted that he knew this behavior was a violation of the Traffic Law, but used the excuse of making a living to use the homemade vehicle to transport goods.
Meanwhile, the male driver of the motorbike, who had built a "trailer" towing a 2-meter-long plastic sheet, justified himself by saying that he was just a hired worker and "did not understand the regulations." After being fined by the traffic police, he said he would learn from his mistakes and not repeat them.
According to the processed data, from May 1st to now, Traffic Police Team No. 14 has penalized 35 cases. In the coming time, the unit will continue to strengthen patrolling and control, strictly handle violations, and at the same time promote propaganda and mobilize individuals and organizations not to arbitrarily produce and use vehicles with high potential risks causing traffic safety.
Traffic Police Team No. 14 is determined to strictly handle violations.
