The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) has just received information on the official results of the Vietnamese national team participating in the 2025 Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO) hosted by Uzbekistan.
The Vietnamese national team had 6 students participating in the award consideration. As a result, 100% of the students won medals, including: 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals and 3 bronze medals.
The specific results are as follows:
Nguyen Bui Duc Dung, 11th grade student, High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences , University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi won the gold medal.
Le Kien Thanh, a 12th grader from Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Binh Dinh province, and Dang Huy Hau, a 10th grader from Thang Long High School for the Gifted, Lam Dong province, both won silver medals.
Students Ninh Quang Thang, grade 12 student, Ha Long High School for the Gifted, Quang Ninh province; Nguyen Huy Phong, grade 11 student, Lao Cai High School for the Gifted, Lao Cai province and Nguyen Xuan Chi Thanh, grade 11 student, High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences, University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi all won bronze medals.

Notably, Nguyen Bui Duc Dung won the gold medal with 236/300 points, including two entries with the maximum score of 100 points; especially in entry number 1, Dung was one of three contestants with the maximum score.
Dang Huy Hau won silver medal with a very unique solution and achieved maximum score in exercise 3 with the main processing part using only 4 lines of code, surprising everyone.
With this result, the Vietnam Informatics Olympic Team ranked 5th after China, Russia, Japan, and Korea and continued to affirm its leading position among countries in the Southeast Asian region.
This result also shows that Vietnamese students have been equipped with adequate and updated knowledge. In addition, the results of many years in the International and Regional Informatics Olympiads show that Vietnamese students have the talent and thinking in Computer Science on par with the top students in the region.
The excellent achievements of the Vietnamese national team at APIO 2025 continue to affirm the quality of general education; at the same time, affirm the right direction in the work of discovering, selecting and nurturing excellent students of the Ministry of Education and Training.
The 19th Asia Pacific Olympiad in Informatics attracted 42 delegations from countries and territories with 868 contestants. This year's exam questions were assessed as creative, following the exam trends of the International Olympiad in Informatics, with each question having many flexible and creative approaches.
