5,500 initiatives for mental health: When Vinschool students take control of their journey to school happiness

For the first time in Vietnam, more than 5,500 initiatives for school mental health care have been proposed, implemented and spread by Vinschool students. Not only sharing their feelings, Vinsers also proactively take action to build a humane and positive school environment, where each individual is listened to, understood and happy.

Students initiate, students implement, students spread the message.

Recently, the program “Wellbeing Initiatives for School Mental Health – Wellbeing Initiatives: Healthy for Better Learning Vinschool 2024-2025” held a ceremony to honor the 100 best initiatives initiated and directly implemented by students. This is the final activity of the program, which was first implemented simultaneously by Vinschool at 38 campuses in the system from December 2024 to April 2025.

Vinschool honored 100 outstanding initiatives in the field of school mental health for the 2024-2025 school year at the system-wide awards ceremony.

The program, designed for students in grades 1 through 12, focuses on four pillars of holistic development: Cognitive Health, Social Health, Emotional Health, and Physical Health. Students are encouraged to identify problems, propose solutions, implement activities, and spread messages based on their own real needs and genuine emotions. Each initiative is not just a task, but also demonstrates a proactive spirit, responsibility, and a desire to contribute to positive change and development within the school community.

Vinschool students created "Circles of Emotions" from recycled materials, helping the community identify and share emotions in a positive and open way.

More than 5,500 creative ideas proposed by students themselves show the concern of each individual for school mental health, as well as Vinschool's systematic strategy towards the comprehensive development of students. In particular, the program has successfully implemented 2,622 initiatives in practice, contributing to creating positive impacts in the Vinschool community and spreading values to society.

The exhibition "Ocean of You" – a journey of exploring the inner ocean – attracted more than 1,500 students.

Ms. Truong Thi Thuy Ha, parent of Vinser Ha Ngan - Vinser leading the "Good Night Wishes" project - confided: "In the past, my family was not used to expressing feelings in words. But after only one month of my child implementing this idea, I suddenly realized that the seemingly simple good night wishes had an extremely warm spreading power. I never thought that one day my child would take the initiative to do this, it was both surprising and touching. Since my child started saying good night wishes every night, my husband and I have felt lighter and more comfortable. The atmosphere in the house is also closer and warmer. Just a small action but it makes parents see that their child is gradually growing up, knowing how to care and love more."

In the program, over 4,200 students were appointed as "Wellbeing Ambassadors," becoming leaders who inspire and implement meaningful initiatives in their respective schools. In addition, over 20,800 students, teachers, and parents directly participated in or supported the program's implementation.

Nguyen Ha Anh, an 11th grader, shared : Instead of just sharing my personal feelings, I choose to take action so that my friends around me also feel safe and heard. We are not just talking about mental health, but actually making a change .”

A breakthrough in comprehensive healthcare strategy at Vinschool.

In addition to "nurturing" knowledge, Vinschool constantly strengthens its system from policies, processes to professional staff to develop a core strategy: taking care of school mental health, aiming to bring students a journey of sustainable and comprehensive development.

The “School Mental Health Initiative” program marks a strong shift and demonstrates Vinschool’s focus on building a comprehensive learning environment where students are empowered, from being supported and benefiting to “taking control”.

“Vinser Corner” – a space for sharing emotions amidst the vibrant learning environment – has recorded nearly 400 interactions in just two weeks since its launch.

With the motto “For students – by students – by students”, Vinschool constantly promotes initiatives initiated by students themselves, directly planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating the impact. From small ideas such as “secret confiding corner”, “emotional diary”, “sending good night wishes to parents”, to large-scale projects such as organizing workshops, producing podcasts, improving classroom space, building peer-to-peer support chains, etc., all deeply reflect the depth of awareness, empathy and responsibility of students towards themselves and the community. This is a clear demonstration of a comprehensive educational method, helping students learn about self-understanding, critical thinking, emotional management, teamwork, etc., and practice those things in real life to create real impact.

Vinschool students become leaders of mental health workshops, spreading knowledge and skills of mental care within the school community.

Going beyond the scope of a movement, Wellbeing Initiatives has become a true educational journey – where students truly take control of their own development and contribute to the community. Vinschool is committed to continuing to expand student-led school mental health care programs, aiming to build a young generation that is strong in both knowledge and spirit, independent in action and happy in life.
