U22 Malaysia midfielder: A draw with Vietnam is enough but we want more

"Hopefully, when we face Vietnam U22 in the big match, we will be ready both physically and mentally. Our goal is to beat Vietnam U22. A draw would be enough, but we want more than that. Malaysia U22's mission is to defeat Vietnam U22 to regain our pride," Haykal Danish declared.

"The Vietnam U22 team is rated higher than us. They are strong and agile, but the Malaysia U22 team won't counter them with physical strength. We have to beat the Vietnam U22 team with quick passes and rapid transitions to attack. That will be how we play," the Malaysia U22 midfielder continued.

Haykal Danish declared that the Malaysian U22 team will show a very different face at the SEA Games 33, especially in the crucial match against the Vietnamese U22 team. "We are ready, we just need to maintain consistent training and stay focused," Haykal Danish affirmed.

In Group B, U22 Malaysia and U22 Vietnam both have 3 points. The result of the next match will determine the group winner, who will qualify directly for the semi-finals, and the other team competing for the best second-place spot. A draw would be enough for U22 Malaysia to finish first in the group and advance to the semi-finals alongside U22 Vietnam.

Conversely, a loss to U22 Vietnam would put U22 Malaysia at risk of being eliminated from the SEA Games 33 in the group stage. The tense nature of the match between U22 Malaysia and U22 Vietnam made it the most heated game in the SEA Games 33 group stage.

Ahead of the big match, the U22 Malaysia team received good news as two key players, Ubaidullah Shamsul and Haziq Mukhriz, have joined the team in Bangkok. Another important player for U22 Malaysia, Izwan Yuslan, is still uncertain to be available for the upcoming match.
