“Background Sounds” is a new feature on iOS15. This feature helps your iPhone create interesting background sounds such as ocean waves, rain, water, dark noise, bright noise and equalizer noise.
This feature can help you concentrate better, or make your sleep better. To turn it on, follow these steps:
How to enable background sound on iPhone
The most basic way to turn it on
Step 1: Go to "Accessibility" in "Settings", then select "Audio/Visual".
Step 2: After selecting "Sound/Image", select "Background Sound" and turn this feature on.
This section, if you notice below, will have a note, "Plays sounds in the background to mask unwanted environmental noise. These sounds can reduce distractions and help you focus, calm down, or rest"
Step 3: Finally, you can choose the types of sounds you want like: Stream, rain, ocean, dark noise, bright noise, balanced noise.
Select "Use sound when locked", when the screen is off, sound can still play to help you sleep better.
How to enable via control center
Step 1: Go to "Settings" and select "Control Center", then select the plus icon next to "Hearing".
Step 2: Swipe down the control center and select the ear icon, then select "Background Sound" and you're done.
How to turn on via power button
Step 1: Select "Accessibility" after entering "Settings", click "Accessibility Shortcut".
Step 2: Select "Background Sound", then you go to "Control Center", now you just need to press the power button 3 times in a row, the sound will be played.
