Cambodia has once again been voted Asia's leading cultural destination in 2023 by the World Travel Awards, Tourism Minister Sok Soken said on February 28.
According to Minister Sok Soken, this result continues to affirm Cambodia's attractiveness as a must-see destination for all culture enthusiasts.
Meanwhile, Cambodia's Ministry of Tourism spokesman Top Sopheak stressed that the country is a cultural and ecological tourist destination, famous for the Angkor Archaeological Park, a world heritage site in Siem Reap province, and a beautiful bay in Sihanoukville city, southwest Cambodia.
In addition, Cambodia also has three other World Heritage Sites including Sambor Prei Kuk temple complex in Kampong Thom province, Preah Vihear temple and Koh Ker temple in Preah Vihear province.
Tourism is one of the four main sectors driving Cambodia's economy . The industry is creating about 450,000 direct jobs for local people.
According to the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism, the Southeast Asian country welcomed about 5.45 million international visitors in 2023 with total revenue reaching 3.08 billion USD, contributing 7.5% to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
