According to the City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (Traffic Board), the Dong Van Cong Street expansion project (section from Giong Ong To 2 Bridge to My Thuy Intersection, Thu Duc City) was just completed during the recent Lunar New Year 2024.

The Dong Van Cong Street expansion project (Thu Duc City) is part of the plan to reduce traffic congestion in the Cat Lai port area, started in February 2020, with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport as the investor.

The 2.8km Dong Van Cong road (from Giong Ong To 2 bridge to My Thuy intersection) has been expanded with 2 more car lanes, increasing from 6 to 8 lanes (6 car lanes, 2 motorbike lanes). The total investment capital of the project is about 42 billion VND.

The project was supposed to be completed by the end of 2020 but was delayed by more than 2 years and had to be suspended due to difficulties in contract implementation by the old contractor.

In July 2023, after reviewing the proposal of the Traffic Committee, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport agreed to terminate the project construction contract with the old contractor.
