Bustling fishing port

Việt NamViệt Nam21/02/2024

( Quang Ngai Newspaper) - In the first days of the new year, fishing ports and boat anchorages in the province are bustling with ships coming in and out to load and sell fish. Many fishing boats operating close to shore or during Tet arrive at port with the joy of "full holds of fish".

FISHERMEN ARE EXCITED

On the morning of February 19 (January 10), Tinh Ky fishing port (Quang Ngai city) was bustling, with more than 30 fishing boats docking to sell fish. The happiest were fishermen fishing close to shore (about 10 nautical miles from shore) and in Hoang Sa fishing grounds, because the fish were in season and the selling price was high.

Fisherman Nguyen Van Chau, in Tinh Ky commune, said that his boat exploited seafood near Hoang Sa fishing grounds, and the first trip of the year continuously brought in "good fortune" from the sea, including anchovies, mackerel, and flying fish. High output and stable selling prices helped his fellow fishermen earn high incomes, creating a bustling and exciting atmosphere right in the new spring days. Not only Mr. Chau, in the days after the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin 2024, hundreds of fishing boats of fishermen operating near shore arrived at the port to sell their products in excitement because of the good fish season, especially anchovies.

Fisherman Tran Tan Linh, from Binh Chau commune (Binh Son), happily brought his boat to Tinh Ky fishing port with the joy of a full hold of fish. After anchoring the boat, Captain Linh excitedly announced that the boat had a “lucky” fishing trip during Tet, which was a large amount of flying fish. The fish sold well at the beginning of the year, so everyone was excited.

Fisherman Cao Voi, Nghia An commune (Quang Ngai city) is also full of joy because the fish are in season and have good prices during the trip across the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin 2024. "More than ten tons of flying fish have been purchased by traders at high prices," Mr. Voi briefly announced as soon as the ship arrived at Tinh Ky fishing port. After completing all the procedures to dock, Mr. Voi and the crew hurriedly transferred the fish to shore and cleaned the ship.

Mr. Vao confided that celebrating Tet at sea, when the ship returned to shore, the crew members were eager to reunite with their loved ones in the days after Tet. Therefore, from the time the ship returned to shore, I contacted the traders to finalize the price and prepare to sell the fish as quickly as possible, so that the crew members living far away could return home to reunite with their families. Around January 20, our ship will continue to set sail.

During the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin, the whole province had 62 fishing boats (378 workers) going out to sea to stay at sea throughout Tet in the fishing grounds of Hoang Sa, Truong Sa and Bac Bo Gulf. From February 15 (January 6) until now, dozens of fishing boats from offshore areas have returned to Tinh Ky fishing port and Tinh Hoa boat anchorage port to sell their products. Many fishing boats achieved large catches, mainly flying fish, combined with high selling prices, bringing joy to the boat owners and crew members, despite celebrating Tet late.

EXPECTATION OF "CALM SEA, FULL FISH"

After the Tet holiday of Giap Thin 2024, fishermen are busy checking fishing gear, preparing fuel and necessary supplies for the first sea trip of the year. At Tinh Hoa port, from February 10 (January 4) to now, there are 70 fishing boats leaving port to go to sea.

Ship owner and captain Le Van Lo, in Nghia An commune, said that fishermen believe that if the first sea trip of the year goes smoothly, the fishing industry will be prosperous that year. When we heard that the ships that went out to sea during Tet returned with the joy of "a good fish harvest and good prices", we fishermen were very excited, because this was a good sign promising a year of calm seas and plenty of fish. So after the Tet holiday, at noon on February 19, my ship and 8 crew members set sail for the first sea trip of the year, to fish in the Hoang Sa fishing grounds.

Fisherman Vo Van Loc, in Pho Quang ward (Duc Pho town) also hurriedly prepared food, fuel, ice, ready for the first sea trip of the new year. Mr. Loc said that his boat was fishing with a trawl net in the Hoang Sa fishing grounds. Before Tet, my boat caught more than 10 tons of tuna, striped tuna, mackerel and mackerel. The entire output was purchased by traders at a fairly high price, so the boat owner and crew had a full Tet holiday. This is the motivation for us to confidently enter the first sea trip of the year with a new spirit.

Accompanying fishermen, the authorities of coastal localities and the agricultural sector regularly meet to encourage and share to help fishermen confidently go offshore. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has directed relevant agencies and units to actively support fishermen in inspecting, maintaining and repairing equipment systems on ships; especially fire prevention and fighting systems to prevent accidents during the operation of ships at sea as well as anchoring for Tet holidays. The Provincial Fishing Port Management Board arranges staff to direct traffic, arrange and organize fishing vessels to dock at the port to sell products to ensure convenience and safety; quickly and neatly carry out and resolve procedures for confirming and certifying the origin of exploited seafood in accordance with regulations.
