Project progress overview
According to Project Management Board 85 ( Ministry of Construction ), as of early December, the total construction output of the three component projects of the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway, phase 1, has reached over 6,000 billion VND. The project is in the final stages to meet important progress milestones, especially the technical opening of the sections through Dong Nai province.

The Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway project is divided into three sub-projects, each with a different implementation schedule:
- Component Project 3: The section passing through Ho Chi Minh City, managed by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, has the highest completed construction output value, reaching over 1,600 billion VND (equivalent to 97% of the contract value). This section was opened for technical traffic in mid-year and is awaiting synchronization with the remaining component projects.
- Component Project 2: The section through Dong Nai province, under the management of the Ministry of Construction, has a total construction output of over 2,900 billion VND (approximately 70% of the contract value). It is expected that by December 19th, the output will reach approximately 85%, meeting the requirements for technical opening to traffic as requested by the Prime Minister.
- Component Project 1: The section passing through Dong Nai province, managed by the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee, has achieved a production value of nearly 1,500 billion VND (approximately 58% of the contract value). Provincial leaders also requested the completion of the technical opening to traffic before December 19th, considering this a deadline that cannot be postponed.

Scale and specifications of phase 1
The project has a total length of nearly 54 km, passing through Dong Nai province (over 34 km) and Ho Chi Minh City (over 19 km). The total investment for phase 1 of the project is nearly 18,000 billion VND. The lane scale is divided according to each section:
- Section 1 (Phuoc Tan - Long Thanh) and Section 3 (Tan Hiep - National Highway 56): Scale: 4-lane expressway, roadbed width 24.75 m.
- Section 2 (Long Thanh - Tan Hiep): A 6-lane expressway with a roadbed width of 32.25 m.


Project breakdown and main contract packages
Component Project 1, approximately 16 km in length, is managed by the People's Committee of Dong Nai Province. The two main construction packages, totaling VND 2,498 billion, are undertaken by consortiums of contractors including Truong Son Construction Corporation, Trung Nam Construction and Installation Joint Stock Company, Lizen Joint Stock Company, Construction Corporation No. 1 (CC1), and several other units.

Component project 2, spanning over 18 km through Dong Nai province, is under the management of the Ministry of Construction. At the end of November, the project's total investment was adjusted upwards by nearly 770 billion VND, reaching over 7,600 billion VND. The main contract packages are being constructed by Truong Son Construction Corporation and the Vinaconex - Construction Corporation No. 1 - DACINCO consortium.
Strategic importance
The Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway is one of the key transportation infrastructure projects in the Southeast region of Vietnam. Upon completion, the route will contribute to completing the infrastructure system connecting to Long Thanh Airport, which is expected to be operational in 2026, while also reducing congestion on National Highway 51 and promoting socio -economic development for the entire region.
