The highway connecting Ho Chi Minh City - Phan Thiet, more than 2 hours drive away, is about to be inaugurated.

The final items on the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay highway are being rushed to completion so that the route can be temporarily put into use on the upcoming April 30th.

One week before the opening of the entire route, the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway project has reached more than 95% of the total volume. Construction started in October 2020, the project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2022.

Regarding the reasons for the slow construction progress, the management unit, Thang Long Project Management Board (PMB), said that the project was seriously affected by a number of weather problems, 4-6 months of Covid-19 pandemic, financial problems, etc. Among them, the biggest difficulty was the lack of fill soil, which has now been resolved and only construction needs to be accelerated.

After traveling 99km along the entire route, the reporter noted that the road surface has basically been completed. Previously, on December 31, 2022, the project was completed and opened to technical traffic. However, many items are still being urgently added.

According to the report of Thang Long Project Management Board, the overall progress is still following the plan to open traffic on April 30. Contractors are urgently constructing traffic safety items, fences, guardrails, paint, road markings...

"As the opening date approaches, the median strip, fences, and markers will be basically completed," said Nguyen Thanh Truong, director of a contractor at Package 4 at the starting point and Package 1 at the end of the route.

Sharing with Dan Tri reporter , the units that are painting the road markings all confirmed that they will complete this item before the opening day. "After measuring the accuracy of the lane markings, we paint them with machines so it will be very fast. The hot weather also makes the paint dry faster," a worker shared.

However, according to the observation of the contractor representative in package 1 and package 4, some fence sections will not be closed on schedule because they still have to wait for some unfinished construction items on both sides such as: drainage culverts, access roads, overpasses for people...

Dau Giay - Phan Thiet Expressway has 6 intersections and 65 bridges (18 bridges on the expressway and 47 overpasses on residential roads). According to the reporter's observations, the intersections along the route are almost connected.

The road surface is more than 32m wide, designed for 6 lanes, speed 120 km/h.

The embankment project on both sides of the road is almost complete. The construction team here said that they will arrange flower pots on the embankment to add more color along the highway.

Vehicles passing through the two provinces will be able to see the local characteristics. The expressway through Dong Nai province is 51.3km long, passing through vast rubber forests.

On the highway through Binh Thuan province, the landscape on both sides of the road changes with dragon fruit fields, a typical agricultural crop of the region.

To be able to serve the people in time, many shifts on the highway take turns working from dawn until sunset.

Under the direction of the Ministry of Transport, the Dau Giay - Phan Thiet Expressway will be opened to traffic and put into operation on April 30, 2023. During the inspection on April 14, Deputy Minister Nguyen Danh Huy requested that contractors make maximum efforts to complete the main route in time.

Dau Giay - Phan Thiet Expressway is one of the key transport projects in the South with a total investment of more than 12,500 billion VND, invested by the Ministry of Transport and managed by the Thang Long Project Management Board.
