The touching story behind the clip of hundreds of students bursting into tears

On October 12, a clip recording hundreds of students bursting into tears upon hearing the news that a teacher was about to transfer jobs moved many people.

The person who posted the clip said the incident took place at Son Lien Primary and Secondary Boarding School, Son Lien Commune, Son Tay District, Quang Ngai Province. The person in the clip is teacher Nguyen Ngoc Duy, 38 years old.

Teacher Nguyen Ngoc Duy confirmed that the image circulating on social media was a farewell between him and students of Son Lien Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities.

Mr. Duy has been with this school for 13 years. Meanwhile, his family lives in Quang Ngai city. The distance from home to work is more than 100km. Therefore, he wishes to be transferred to work closer to home to take care of his young children and elderly mother.

After the decision to transfer, on the evening of October 10, Mr. Duy went to the school dormitory to visit and say goodbye to the students. When they heard the news of Mr. Duy's transfer, the students in the dormitory immediately informed each other. Hundreds of students rushed to surround Mr. Duy and burst into tears.

Touched by the students' affection for him, the teacher also burst into tears.

According to Mr. Duy, Son Lien commune is one of the most remote and isolated areas of Son Tay district. Having been attached to this place for 13 years, Mr. Duy and the teachers have had to overcome many difficulties during their work. Only love for the profession and love for students can help teachers stay with schools in the highlands.

On the day he left school, Mr. Duy wrote on his personal Facebook: "...I'm sorry for not being able to continue the journey with Son Lieneducation . I'm sorry to class 4B for not being with you all the way to the end of the journey.

Nothing more, I wish all of you at Son Lien Primary and Secondary Boarding School, my colleagues in Son Tay, and my friends and brothers and sisters in Son Tay good health and success. See you again."

Mr. Nguyen Dang Khoa, Principal of Son Lien Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, said that the image of students bursting into tears and surrounding Mr. Duy was the clearest proof of the affection and attachment between teachers and students. This is the happiness of a teacher.

"Mr. Duy has been with this school for 13 years, long enough to create a close bond with this place. Now he has to move closer to home to take care of his family and elderly mother. I know that, but I am very sad. I hope he will often come back to visit his students," said Mr. Nguyen Dang Khoa.
