In the context of the current rainy weather, combined with the approaching storm KALMAEGI, the recovery work is still facing many difficulties. In this situation, the Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province, Y Ngoc, requested the locality to urgently handle the landslide sites so that people can travel easily and conveniently.
Accordingly, the DH81 route connecting the Commune People's Committee to the Song Thanh Border Guard Station currently has 16 landslides, completely cutting off travel on this route. Meanwhile, the only route from the Dak Plo Commune People's Committee to the villages of Rooc Nam, Rooc Met, Dak No, Dak Nhoong, Dak Ung and Dak Ga also suffered landslides, cutting off 749 households with more than 2,500 people from the commune center.
Mr. Nguyen Van Vinh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dak Plo commune, said that the road leading to the 6 villages above has many landslides, causing traffic to be completely blocked. To get to the People's Committee of the commune, people here are forced to take a detour, move through Dak Pek commune and then move back up along Ho Chi Minh road. This distance is more than 50 km, twice the distance along the currently divided route.
Meanwhile, at Song Thanh Border Guard Station, landslides not only cut off the DH81 route, but also directly affected the power system. By the afternoon of November 4, the station still had no electricity, no phone signal, and could only communicate by walkie-talkie. The officers and soldiers of the station had to travel nearly 15 km to the auxiliary border gate station to bring food and necessities back, mainly on foot.
In the Lo Xo Pass area, by the afternoon of November 4, although a section of the road had been cleared, many locations had not been completely cleared; soil and rocks were still spilling onto the road surface. In addition, continued rain will put the land on the pass at high risk of further landslides. Currently, authorities are still deploying forces to be ready to respond in case of landslides or traffic jams.
The People's Committee of Dak Plo commune has proposed the Provincial People's Committee to support 11.7 billion VND to urgently repair 8 traffic routes in the commune damaged by the impact of floods. Thereby, helping people in the commune to conveniently travel and transport goods; contributing to ensuring national defense and security.

Directly inspecting the landslide and isolated locations on November 4, Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province Y Ngoc highly appreciated the initiative in overcoming the damage caused by the flood by the government and people of Dak Plo commune. Thanks to that, there were no human casualties. Regarding the roads, Ms. Y Ngoc requested that the local government should soon have a plan to handle the landslide locations and quickly clear the roads so that people can travel safely. For landslide locations that are dangerous to vehicles, it is necessary to arrange personnel to be on duty to monitor the vehicles.
“The commune has many single roads but they have been eroded, causing traffic disruption. There are villages that can still be reached by detours but the distance is twice as long, making it very difficult for the people. In the immediate future, this week, the locality needs to fix the problem, ensuring that people can at least travel by motorbike through the eroded areas. In addition, this is a border area, so we request the border guards to support the locality in implementing the fix,” Ms. Y Ngoc emphasized.
At the same time, Ms. Y Ngoc also visited Dak Man Primary and Secondary School - the school that suffered heavy damage due to flash floods on Lo Xo Pass that occurred at noon on October 29. Here, the Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province encouraged teachers and students of the school to work together to overcome difficulties to carry out teaching and learning well in the coming time.
According to Mr. A So Lai - Secretary of the Party Committee of Dak Plo commune, on November 4, the local government will mobilize vehicles, especially bulldozers, to temporarily open the road for motorbikes to pass first. Then, they will fix and level the road to open the road from Dak Plo commune to the villages of Rooc Nam, Rooc Met, Dak No, Dak Nhoong, Dak Ung and Dak Ga.
“Currently, the road from the commune to the villages of Rooc Nam, Rooc Met, Dak No, Dak Nhoong, Dak Ung, Dak Ga is cut off. The commune has a plan to supply essential goods via the road from Dak Pek commune. This road is twice as long, but the commune has directed and mobilized people and commune forces to stay in touch, promptly direct and handle when people are in difficulty. The commune's determination is to not let anyone go hungry or cold due to the effects of floods and rains,” Mr. A So Lai added.
Mr. Phan Muoi - Deputy Director of the Department of Construction of Quang Ngai province said that the DH81 route to Song Thanh Border Guard Station is currently still under warranty. The People's Committee of Dak Plo commune needs to request the investor, the Provincial Border Guard Command (now the Border Guard Command Board), to work with the construction contractor to promptly implement remedial measures so that people can travel smoothly and safely. For the Dak Pam bridge abutment across Dak Pam stream on the DH81 route, the local government needs to put up warning signs, absolutely not allowing heavy-duty vehicles to pass through this location.
