Quang Tri province requires local authorities, border guards and police to actively propagate to people not to be subjective about weather developments, to minimize damage to people and property.
Currently, the whole province has more than 71 flooded locations, causing traffic disruption and isolating many residential areas. Statistics show that more than 12,017 households/25,570 people were flooded; 433 households/1,333 people were completely isolated and cut off. Currently, in many flooded areas, people often use small boats to travel, however, compliance with wearing life jackets and limiting movement has not been given due attention.
Faced with this situation, the police and border guards of Quang Tri province have proactively deployed many measures to ensure the safety of people's lives and property. Currently, the Border Guard of Quang Tri province is maintaining 41 working groups with 155 officers and soldiers and 3 canoes on duty at key flooded areas.
The working groups closely coordinated with local authorities to check for landslide risks, support the evacuation of people from dangerous areas, and ensure absolute safety for people and property. The Border Guard continued to be on duty 24/7, closely following the developments of floods and rains, proactively responding to plans and being ready to rescue when emergencies occur.
In addition, the authorities are stepping up propaganda and mobilizing people, especially in deep flooded areas, to raise awareness of self-protection. People are advised to absolutely not go through areas with fast-flowing water, not to fish, collect firewood, or graze livestock while floodwaters are rising. When forced to move through flooded areas, people must wear life jackets, use life buoys or floating objects to ensure safety.
Colonel Trinh Thanh Binh, Commander of the Quang Tri Provincial Border Guard Command, emphasized that in the context of complicated floods, compliance with the instructions of the border guards and local authorities is a key factor in protecting lives and property.
Every citizen needs to be proactive, calm, and not subjective in the face of natural disasters. Just a small action like wearing a life jacket when moving through flooded areas can save the lives of yourself and your loved ones, contributing to the whole province overcoming difficulties and minimizing damage caused by floods.
