On April 28, Nutifood Nutrition Food Joint Stock Company (Nutifood) announced that the first pile drilling of the pedestrian bridge project across the Saigon River was officially carried out on the riverbank of the new urban area of Thu Thiem.
This is also the first step for construction package No. 1 of the project undertaken by Construction Corporation No. 1 - JSC (CC1).
After the first pile is successfully drilled, the construction unit will continue to drill the next holes for both sides of District 1 and Thu Duc City. According to the design, each approach bridge pier will have 4 bored piles with a diameter of 0.8m and an average depth of 33m.
It is expected that the items in the construction package No. 1 of the pedestrian bridge project across the Saigon River will be completed in 9 months. At the same time, Nutifood is also speeding up the progress of other items and related work so that the project can be completed and put into use soon.
The pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River starts at Bach Dang Wharf Park (District 1). The end point is in the riverside park, adjacent to Nguyen Thien Thanh Street (Route R3) in the new urban area of Thu Thiem (Thu Duc City).
This bridge has a special design, simulating the shape of a water coconut leaf floating gently on the river. When completed, the project will not only have traffic significance but also be a new architectural symbol of the city, bringing the value of connecting the two cultural and historical spaces of District 1 and Thu Duc City.

As part of a series of events celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, the groundbreaking ceremony for the pedestrian bridge project across the Saigon River was previously held by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee at Bach Dang Wharf Park on March 26.
The total construction cost of this project is estimated at about 1,000 billion VND, sponsored by Nutifood.
