T Hon 2 has more than 1,117 households, bordering Gia Lai province. Most of the people work in fishing, their lives depend heavily on the weather and marine resources.
As village chief, Mr. Thanh has become an important bridge between the government and the people, between organizations and the community, contributing to creating positive changes in all aspects of village life.
Over the years, Mr. Thanh has chaired, coordinated and effectively implemented many major programs such as building rural roads, ensuring security and order, supporting poor households, and building cultural life. Thanks to that, the campaigns have received high response and become voluntary movements of the people.
In particular, with the characteristics of a coastal locality, the work of protecting the marine environment and preventing illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing has always been of interest to him and is maintained regularly.
Mr. Thanh shared: “People work at sea all year round, so each trip must have a firm grasp of the regulations on fishing areas, voyage monitoring equipment, and fishing logs. We regularly coordinate with commune officials, border guards, and organizations to organize village meetings and meet with each household to explain specifically and clearly. The most important thing is to help people understand that complying with IUU is not only to avoid violations but also to preserve the long-term fishing profession for their own children.”

Along with his daily duties, Mr. Nguyen Thanh is also the one who "takes the lead" in the most difficult times, especially when facing natural disasters. After the storm, Mr. Thanh and the commune authorities went to each house to check and count the damage, in order to propose the right and targeted support policies.
Mr. Nguyen Hung, a resident in the village, shared: “Village Chief Nguyen Thanh is very close to the people. He visits any family that is in trouble or needs help. During the storm on November 6, he called each house to ask about the situation, then sent messages to everyone to let them know if anyone needs support. He is always by the side of the people in all circumstances.”
The work continued without stopping, on the one hand, he was concerned with supporting people to recover after the storm, on the other hand, Mr. Thanh quickly joined hands with the Village Front Committee to successfully organize the National Great Unity Day of Village 2. Despite suffering a lot of damage after the storm, people still came in large numbers. That warm and close-knit atmosphere was the result of many years of Mr. Thanh's perseverance in building consensus and solidarity in the community.
