Leicester players oppose Van Nistelrooy

Midfielder Harry Winks was left out of the squad for Leicester's 2-0 defeat to Man City on April 3.

According to The Telegraph , the row broke out when Van Nistelrooy asked Winks to change his daily travel habits. Specifically, the Dutch coach suggested Winks stay at the club's hotel in Seagrave, North Leicestershire, once a week to reduce the 100-mile journey he had to make each day from Hertfordshire to Leicester's state-of-the-art training ground.

However, Winks has rejected the request, saying he has personal reasons for maintaining his habit of travelling from home and has done so since joining Leicester for £10m under manager Enzo Maresca.

One of Winks' personal reasons is that he welcomed his first daughter with girlfriend Lowri Algar in mid-March. This makes the midfielder even more attached to his family and does not want to change his familiar lifestyle.

The tension between Winks and Van Nistelrooy was part of an unstable atmosphere at Leicester under the Dutchman, with players such as Jannik Vestergaard also struggling to adapt to Van Nistelrooy's environment.

Winks, who was a key figure for Leicester in the Championship last season, has not started a Premier League game since the 4-0 defeat to Everton in early February. Van Nistelrooy, with his demanding standards and performance, is facing opposition from the players, which has added to the tension at the King Power Stadium.

Currently, the King Power Stadium club is second to last on the rankings with 17 points, 12 points behind the safe position of Wolves, while the season has only 8 rounds left. This is the consequence of a series of 7 consecutive losses of the "Foxes".
