According to The Telegraph , the dispute broke out when Van Nistelrooy asked Winks to change his daily travel habits. Specifically, the Dutch coach suggested Winks stay at the club hotel in Seagrave, North Leicestershire, once a week to reduce the distance he had to travel 100 miles each day from Hertfordshire to Leicester's modern training ground.
However, Winks has refused this request, as he has personal reasons to maintain his habit of commuting from his home and has done so since joining Leicester for £10m under coach Enzo Maresca.
One of Winks' personal reasons is that he welcomed his first daughter with his girlfriend Lowri Algar in mid-March. This makes the midfielder even more attached to his family and does not want to change his familiar lifestyle.
The tension between Winks and Van Nistelrooy was part of an unstable atmosphere at Leicester under the Dutchman, with players such as Jannik Vestergaard also struggling to adapt to Van Nistelrooy's environment.
Winks, who was a key figure for Leicester in the Championship last season, has not started a Premier League game since the 4-0 defeat to Everton in early February. Van Nistelrooy, with his demanding standards and performance, is facing opposition from the players, which has added to the tension at the King Power Stadium.
Currently, the King Power Stadium club is second to last on the rankings with 17 points, 12 points behind the safe position of Wolves, while the season has only 8 rounds left. This is the consequence of a series of 7 consecutive losses of the "Foxes".
