Over the past two days, several household appliance and fishing gear stores in Tuy Hoa ward have been packed with people. At Tuan Anh store on Tran Hung Dao street, customers kept coming in and out to ask to buy large plastic bags but were always told: “Sold out early”.

The shop owner said the number of buyers increased many times compared to normal days. Customers kept asking to buy but the shop had run out of plastic bags since yesterday. Many people switched to buying shrimp farming tarpaulin instead. The selling price was about 20,000 VND/m, but now this product is almost out of stock.

Ms. Le Thi Trinh (Tuy Hoa ward) said she went to all the shops around the center but still could not find plastic bags. “I heard that the market is out of them. I had to buy tarpaulin to pump water to press down on the corrugated iron roof. The storm is coming, so I will use whatever I have, as long as I can keep the roof, I am at ease,” Ms. Trinh shared.
According to locals, plastic bags containing water are preferred because they are more convenient and effective than sandbags or bricks and stones. Just fill them with water and tie them tightly, when the storm passes, the water can be easily discharged without having to carry heavy loads.

The situation of “out of stock” of plastic bags also happened at many other stores. A representative of My Linh store (Tuy Hoa ward) said: “This morning, we sold out all the plastic bags, and only in the afternoon did we get some new goods, but it was still not enough. People bought very quickly, now it is almost out.”
