Chelsea have a new manager.

Liam Rosenior has publicly admitted he is on his way to becoming Chelsea's new manager after reaching a verbal agreement with the West London club.

Coach Liam Rosenior confirmed the news in a surprise press conference held on the morning of January 6th in France, thus ending all speculation surrounding his future. Rosenior is currently the head coach of Strasbourg, and just a few days prior had avoided the possibility of leaving the Ligue 1 club.

According to Rosenior, he flew to London on January 3rd to discuss the matter directly with Chelsea's leadership, before entering into lengthy negotiations on January 5th. "The Blues" are looking for a new manager after parting ways with Enzo Maresca, and Rosenior was the chosen candidate.

Speaking to the French press, Rosenior said: “Last weekend, I didn’t know what would happen. But then I was given permission to speak with one of the biggest clubs in the world . As of today, everything suggests I will be the next coach of that team.”

The 41-year-old strategist emphasized that this is an opportunity he couldn't refuse at this point in his career. He lavished praise on Chelsea, particularly the quality of their squad, their fans, and the club's standing on the world football map.

Rosenior also confirmed that the two sides had only reached a verbal agreement and had not yet signed a formal contract, but all important terms had been agreed upon and the deal could be completed in the next few hours.

“I’m here today because I genuinely care about Strasbourg. I think it’s essential to answer your questions before moving on to the next stage of my career,” Rosenior added.

According to the schedule, Rosenior's first match as Chelsea manager will most likely be an away game against Charlton in the FA Cup on January 11th. Before that, interim manager Calum MacFarlane will lead Chelsea in the West London derby against Fulham midweek.

If all procedures are completed as planned, Rosenior will officially embark on the biggest challenge of his career, as Chelsea continues to pursue a strategy of rejuvenation and rebuilding under the intense pressure of competition in the Premier League.
