On the morning of May 23, in Uong Bi City (Quang Ninh), the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions, and the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Quang Ninh Province held a press conference to inform about the event of enshrining and worshiping the relics of Buddha Shakyamuni at Truc Lam Yen Tu Palace - Yen Tu scenic relic site.
The event was hosted by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Quang Ninh province, including solemn ceremonies: Procession of the relics from Phuc Son pagoda ( Bac Giang ) to Khai Tam - Yen Tu gate, then procession to Truc Lam Palace and enshrinement; relic worship ceremony; prayer ceremony for national peace and prosperity at Hoa Yen pagoda; thanksgiving ceremony and procession of the relics onto the car, ending the event.
Informing VTC News reporter, Venerable Thich Dao Hien - Deputy Standing Committee and Chief Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha said that up to this point, all preparation and service work has been and is being urgently implemented according to plan.
Event organization and service contents such as: decoration work at Truc Lam Yen Tu Palace, logistics, security - order, fire prevention, food hygiene and safety, medical on-call... are being urgently implemented.
More than 2,000 volunteers participated in guiding and directing visitors to ensure security and order. " This event is expected to attract 500,000 - 1 million visitors," said Venerable Thich Dao Hien.
During the process of worshiping the Buddha's relics, the Organizing Committee will not collect any fees and will provide free snacks and drinks to visitors; at the same time, everyone is reminded to wear formal clothes, behave culturally, and not bring incense, flowers, or offerings to the place of worship.
The Buddha's relics are the sacred remains of Buddha Shakyamuni after his cremation. On the occasion of the 20th United Nations Vesak Festival held in Vietnam; with the approval of the Government of India and the Government of Vietnam, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha was allowed to bring the Buddha Shakyamuni's relics, the national treasure of India, to Vietnam for monks, nuns, Buddhists and people to worship.
Currently, the Buddha's relics are enshrined at Phuc Son Pagoda (Tan Yen District, Bac Giang Province). Here, the pagoda will be open all night to serve the worshipers. Previously, the relics were enshrined at Thanh Tam Pagoda (HCMC), Ba Den Mountain (Tay Ninh), Quan Su Pagoda (Hanoi), Tam Chuc Pagoda (Ha Nam) and Bai Dinh Pagoda (Ninh Binh).
