One of the effective measures in ideological work at Brigade 242 is to divide into groups for management, and at the same time, promote the role of soldiers in the unit. In reality, no matter how close the cadres are, it is difficult to promptly grasp the ideological developments that occur. Therefore, encouraging and motivating soldiers to proactively share and reflect the ideological situation of their comrades has brought about practical results at Brigade 242.
Commander of Company 5B, Ngoc Vung Island Battalion encourages new soldiers, February 2025. |
A typical case is that of Private Tran Van Hoang Anh, CSM of Platoon 2, Company 5B, Ngoc Vung Island Battalion. Hoang Anh has a very difficult family situation. His parents died early, Hoang Anh grew up in the loving arms of his grandparents. When he received the news that his grandmother was sick and had no one to take care of her, Hoang Anh was very worried and sad. During the break time on the training ground, Hoang Anh sat alone in deep thought. Seeing his comrade showing signs of depression, Private Luu Hong Ngoc, who also lived and studied in the squad and was from the same hometown in Hai An district ( Hai Phong city), tried to talk, learn and report to the unit commander. From the information provided by Private Luu Hong Ngoc, the unit commander promptly grasped the situation, encouraged, helped and created conditions for Hoang Anh to call home to ask about his grandparents' health. Thanks to that timely encouragement, Hoang Anh overcame his anxiety and confidently carried out his mission.
Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Ngoc Anh, Political Commissar of Company 5B, Ngoc Vung Island Battalion said: “In order for ideological work to be highly effective, not only cadres at all levels but also soldiers need to actively participate in this process. Through closeness and sharing, soldiers will easily detect and promptly report ideological problems arising in the unit.”
Applying the grouping model for management helps officers at all levels to be more proactive in monitoring, caring for, and taking care of the spiritual life of soldiers. Groups are divided according to age, family circumstances, hometown, ethnicity, etc. In particular, for soldiers with difficult circumstances, the unit always pays special attention, closely coordinating with families and localities to manage andeducate . Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Triu, Political Commissar of Brigade 242, shared: “For CSMs returning to the unit, we pay special attention to grasping their thoughts in the early days. The military environment has many differences, so commanders at all levels are always close, encouraging, organizing cultural, artistic, and sports activities to create a comfortable and cohesive atmosphere among soldiers. At the same time, officers regularly talk, listen, and resolve soldiers' problems right from the smallest things, avoiding negative thoughts from lingering.”
In addition, the Brigade also regularly organizes direct democratic dialogues between commanders and soldiers to listen to their thoughts and aspirations. These dialogues not only create an open and friendly environment but also help commanders promptly resolve ideological issues arising in the unit.
