The above information was announced by the US media on April 2, citing four officials familiar with the matter.
The ban not only applies to state employees but also extends to contractors and their family members if they possess security clearances.
The policy, introduced in January, is internally referred to as the “no fraternization” policy, aimed at reducing the risk of leaks of sensitive information related to national security.
A similar version was introduced last year, barring US employees from forming romantic relationships with Chinese employees at US embassies and consulates. Those who had relationships before the ban could be exempted.

The ban comes amid continued challenges in US-China relations. US officials have long expressed concerns about espionage, particularly after a Chinese spy balloon allegedly flew into US airspace last year.
The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) believes that China is conducting espionage and influence operations abroad to serve Beijing’s strategic interests. According to the agency, these activities target American businesses, academia, researchers and even politicians .
China has repeatedly denied the accusations, saying that Beijing does not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries and always adheres to the principles of international relations. China also said that the accusations from the US are groundless and politically motivated.
