Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son said: “In 2011, I kept this mango tree and named it Tai Loc mango. After 10 years, the tree is quite large, bearing many fruits and I took the shoots to multiply 20 trees to plant in 2023. From 2023, after 12 months of planting, Tai Loc mango bore fruit in 2024 and is continuing to bear fruit. The 20 trees bear about 3,000 fruits, each weighing about 310 grams”.

According to many gardeners in Cho Lach district, planting many mango varieties in the same garden is easy for cross-pollination, also known as sexual hybridization. Mr. Thanh Son's Tai Loc mango has the advantage of not being attacked by fruit flies, has a thick skin, is not afraid of being damaged when transported long distances, has good export potential, the ripe fruit has a beautiful bright yellow skin, flat seeds, quite thick flesh, and ripens within 1 - 2 weeks.

According to Mr. Thanh Son, a Tai Loc mango tree was planted on his land at Phu Da islet, Vinh Binh commune. This tree is 4m high with a root diameter of 25cm. Currently, this tree does not bear fruit but is grafted, with about 300 grafted eyes/tree/year. Only 20 trees bear fruit and were propagated and planted in 2023 in Vinh Loc hamlet, Vinh Binh commune.

Mr. Thanh Son is monitoring the quality of the fruit to produce many seedlings to sell to customers. “Tai Loc mangoes bear fruit after only 12 months of planting on alluvial and sandy soil and are not afraid of deep saltwater intrusion. In particular, I grow and care for them organically, without using fertilizers or chemicals. To process Tai Loc mangoes to produce fruit as desired, I use the method of ringing the bark, when there are 2 buds, they will flower. In the month when the price of mangoes is high, the fruit will ripen in that month.

On May 18, 2023, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son's Tai Loc mango was recognized as the mother tree by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the province. His Tai Loc mango has the scientific name: Mangifera Indica. Code: C.XOAITAILOC.83.832.28879.23.89.
