Cho Moi seeks voters' opinions on adjusting commune names

The Standing Committee of Cho Moi District Party Committee has just organized a conference of key officials to inform the Resolution of the Executive Committee of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee on adjusting the commune name. The conference was chaired by Secretary of Cho Moi District Party Committee Nguyen Thi Minh Kieu. Attending were members of the Executive Committee of the District Party Committee, Secretaries of branches and affiliated Party Committees; heads of agencies, departments, and unions of the district.

Concluding the conference, the Executive Committee of the Cho Moi District Party Committee agreed on the plan to keep the name of Cho Moi commune on the basis of merging Kien An and Kien Thanh communes and Cho Moi town; keep the name of Cu Lao Gieng commune on the basis of merging 3 communes: Tan My, My Hiep, Binh Phuoc Xuan.

At the same time, unify and rename 4 communes as previously planned, including: Cho Moi Nam commune changed to Hoi An commune, based on merging Hoi An town, Hoa Binh commune and Hoa An commune; Cho Moi Tay commune changed to Nhon My commune, based on merging Nhon My, My Hoi Dong and Long Giang communes; Cho Moi Trung commune changed to Long Kien commune, based on merging An Thanh Trung, My An and Long Kien communes; Cho Moi Bac commune changed to Long Dien commune, based on merging My Luong town, Long Dien A and Long Dien B communes.

On April 25, 2025, Cho Moi district conducted a survey of voters in 12 communes and towns: An Thanh Trung, My An, Long Kien, Nhon My, My Hoi Dong, Long Giang, Hoi An town, Hoa Binh commune, Hoa An, My Luong town, Long Dien A and Long Dien B communes.

For the two communes that have agreed not to change their names, Cho Moi commune and Cu Lao Gieng commune, including: Kien An, Kien Thanh, Cho Moi town, Tan My, My Hiep, Binh Phuoc Xuan, no consultation will be organized.

The collection of opinions will be carried out through the form of distributing ballots to each household, managed by the Opinion Collection Team in the hamlets and villages. People are encouraged to actively participate, carefully study the content of the ballots, and write their opinions clearly and in accordance with regulations.

Consulting voters on adjusting the names of administrative units after the rearrangement not only demonstrates the spirit of openness and listening to the people of local Party committees and authorities, but is also a necessary step to ensure consensus, cohesion and promote the traditional, historical and cultural values ​​of each region. The active and responsible participation of voters is an important foundation for Cho Moi district to successfully implement the policy of rearranging administrative units, contributing to building an increasingly streamlined and efficient government apparatus, serving the people better in the new development stage.
