This activity is sponsored by the Pacific Environment Organization in Vietnam (PE-VN) and the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) with the aim of raising awareness and responsibility of young people, especially students, about the impacts of waste on human health, the environment, climate change and knowing how to plan to reduce waste and increase green areas in the places where they study and live.
Through this activity, relevant units selected 10 plans to implement feasible projects and models to provide technical and financial support to effectively implement plans to reduce waste and increase green areas in the community.
Speaking at the workshop, Permanent Vice President of the Union of Science and Technology Associations of Da Nang City Nguyen Dinh Phuc informed that in recent times, the union, CAB and PE-VN have organized many workshops, training sessions and implemented many environmental protection activities, focusing on raising awareness, responsibility and skills as well as enhancing activities among young people for the goal of protecting the ecological environment and reducing carbon emissions in the long term and sustainably for Da Nang city in particular and the whole country in general.
Training and selecting feasible projects, models and plans of young people and students on reducing waste and increasing green areas in the community to replicate environmental protection activities proposed and implemented by young people themselves, ensuring suitability and effectiveness in the community, contributing to reducing the amount of waste to be treated, increasing the number of trees and green areas...
Nguyen Duy Thanh, Permanent Vice President of the City Youth Union, said that union members and young people have implemented many effective and practical environmental protection models such as: small planned bus trips, students saying no to plastic waste, young people joining hands to protect water resources and improve the landscape along rivers and lakes...
In the coming time, the youth union and association chapters at all levels in the city will continue to carry out activities to raise awareness, spread responsibility and mobilize the participation of union members and youth in environmental protection activities in the community, contributing to responding to climate change, focusing on activities and behaviors to reduce waste and increase green areas to ensure human health and improve the living environment...
