Congratulating Ambassador Carmen Cano De Lasala on her new term in Vietnam, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Vu Hai Ha believes that the Ambassador will have a successful term, contributing to further promoting the good relations between Vietnam and Spain in general and between the two countries ' National Assemblies in particular.
The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee highly appreciated the positive developments in the relationship between the two countries in recent times, demonstrated through meetings and contacts between senior leaders and all levels, especially after the two countries established the "Strategic Partnership towards the Future" in 2009. Spain is one of the first countries to ratify the Vietnam - EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA). In 2024, the two countries are looking forward to celebrating the 15th anniversary of the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Spain.
Expressing her honor and pride in being appointed as Spanish Ambassador to Vietnam, Ambassador Carmen Cano De Lasala said that she personally always has a lot of love and admiration for the qualities of the Vietnamese people as well as the efforts of Vietnam in recent years to achieve the achievements and position it has today.
Agreeing with the assessment of the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee on relations between the two countries and the two National Assemblies, Ambassador Carmen Cano De Lasala stated that bilateral relations have made positive progress in recent times. In 2023, Spain welcomed many high-ranking delegations from Vietnam, including the visit of Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man (March 2023). The Ambassador also said that the two sides still have a lot of room for cooperation, especially in the fields of economics , trade, investment, culture, tourism, education and training.

Spain is currently Vietnam's 8th trading partner in the EU and Vietnam is Spain's largest trading partner in ASEAN.
The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee hopes that the two sides will continue to effectively implement bilateral cooperation mechanisms, and at the same time build new mechanisms to deepen specialized cooperation between the two countries, especially in priority areas of interest to the two countries on global issues such as energy transition, climate change response, water resource management, etc.
To promote multifaceted cooperation between the two countries in the coming time, the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee suggested that the two countries increase the exchange of delegations at all levels, especially high-level delegations, through all channels, especially parliamentary diplomacy ; actively and regularly coordinate and support each other at multilateral parliamentary forums such as IPU and ASEP; and promote people-to-people exchanges.
Agreeing with the above proposal, Ambassador Carmen Cano De Lasala affirmed that during her term of office, she will strive to promote delegation exchanges at all levels, people-to-people exchanges as well as cooperation activities in other fields, contributing to making the relationship between the two countries and the two National Assemblies increasingly practical, effective and deeper.
