Since leaving to find a way to save the country from Nha Rong Port on June 5, 1911, President Ho Chi Minh has never returned to visit the South and the people of the South.
For Uncle Ho, the greatest pain in his life was that the South had not been liberated and the country had not been unified. He said many times: “The beloved South is always in my heart.”
Before passing away, in his Will, he devoted his love and strong faith to the people of the South and to the cause of national liberation.
He wrote: “Although our people’s struggle against the US to save the country must go through more hardships and sacrifices, it will definitely achieve complete victory. That is certain. I intend that on that day, I will travel across the North and South to congratulate our heroic compatriots, cadres and soldiers; and visit our beloved elders, youth and children.”
In response to Uncle Ho's sentiments, the people of the South, together with the army and people of the whole country, fought bravely and steadfastly, achieving a historic victory in the spring of 1975, completely liberating the South and unifying the country./.
