The President and the President of Hungary review the Guard of Honor of the Vietnam People's Army.

This is the first visit to Vietnam by the Hungarian head of state in 11 years, taking place at a time when the two countries celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2025 (February 3, 1950 - February 3, 2025). Over the past 75 years, the friendship and cooperation between the two countries have developed well in many fields such as education and training, law and justice, culture, sports, people-to-people exchange, etc.

To the sound of welcoming music, President Luong Cuong and the President of Hungary stepped onto the podium. After the national anthems of both countries were played, President Luong Cuong and President Sulyok Tamas left the podium, bowed to the military flag and inspected the Guard of Honor of the Vietnam People's Army. The two leaders then introduced the members of the high-ranking delegations of the two countries attending the welcoming ceremony.

Although geographically distant, Vietnam and Hungary have many things in common in terms of fighting spirit, overcoming all hardships of the war for national independence. The two countries officially established diplomatic relations on February 3, 1950.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two nations have always stood side by side, supporting each other during the war years as well as in the process of national construction. The friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries are increasingly good in many fields such as education and training, law and justice, culture, sports, people-to-people exchange, etc.

Hungary has always considered Vietnam an important partner in the Southeast Asian region. The two countries became Comprehensive Partners in September 2018. In recent years, the political and diplomatic relations between the two countries have grown deeper on the basis of mutual trust and understanding, creating a solid foundation for promoting bilateral relations. Vietnam and Hungary also cooperate closely, effectively and support each other at multilateral forums, especially at the United Nations and within the framework of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM).

Hungary has actively promoted the ratification of the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and is the first EU member state to ratify the Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA). With the advantage of EVFTA, bilateral trade turnover between the two countries has made remarkable progress.

Along with that, education and training is a traditional field of cooperation between the two countries. Hungary has helped train more than 4,000 doctors, masters, and engineers for Vietnam, many of whom have held and are holding important positions in Vietnam.

Cooperation in other traditional fields such as culture, sports, tourism, labor, science and technology, environmental resources, agriculture, water management, etc. has always been promoted by the two countries. The two sides agreed to expand cooperation in new fields such as circular economy, innovation, green finance, renewable energy, digital transformation, etc.
