President Vo Van Thuong visited and inspected Viettel's high-tech industrial products in Hoa Lac.

Viettel has created a boom in the telecommunications industry.

Reporting at the meeting, Major General Tao Duc Thang, Chairman and General Director of Viettel, reported on Viettel's outstanding results.

In 2023, Viettel's revenue will reach 172.5 trillion VND, an increase of 5.4%; contributing 38.9 trillion VND to the State budget. In the past 3 years, the pre-tax profit margin/revenue has been over 25%.

As a leading technology company in Vietnam, Viettel is also a pioneer and effective enterprise in investing abroad with 10 markets in 3 continents, of which it holds the No. 1 position in telecommunications market share in 7 markets. The average revenue growth rate in the last 5 years is 4-5 times higher than the average growth rate of the world telecommunications industry.

Viettel has built two national-scale infrastructures. The first is the ultra-broadband telecommunications infrastructure with 5 domestic fiber optic cable trunks, 3 international fiber optic cable trunks to China, Laos, Cambodia on land, 4 submarine fiber optic cables connecting Asia, Europe and America, nearly 100,000 broadcasting stations, including more than 55,000 4G stations covering 98% of Vietnam's population. The second is the digital infrastructure with 5G network present in 63 provinces and cities, IoT infrastructure connecting all things, 13 DC data centers, the largest in Vietnam.

At the same time, Viettel accompanies the Government in implementing the national digital transformation program on all three pillars of digital government, digital economy and digital society. Viettel has deployed solutions to build a digital government from the central to local levels, typically: Information system for meetings and handling of government work (e-Cabinet); national electronic civil status database system; national land database system; smart urban operations center; cybersecurity solutions and tools... Solutions to promote the digital economy, typically: Digital financial ecosystem (Viettel Money); smart logistics platform; digital transformation solutions for business administration and management... Solutions to promote digital society typically include digital healthcare platforms; digital education; digital transportation...

In 2023, based on Vietnam's database and Vietnamese language, Viettel built a Vietnamese virtual assistant for Vietnamese civil servants. In 2024, the Group aims to build a Vietnamese virtual assistant for every Vietnamese citizen.

In particular, Viettel is the core of building Vietnam's high-tech defense industry complex. Viettel owns telecommunications network infrastructure equipment on all 4 network layers to help ensure information safety and security. Viettel has completed research, produced the 5G product ecosystem and successfully tested it on the network, ready for commercialization in 2024, putting Vietnam in the top 5 first countries to master 5G technology. Viettel has also successfully researched 2/3 of the chip sets for 5G infrastructure.

Viettel has also researched and produced more than 50 types of products in 10 high-tech technical equipment and weapons sectors, following the most modern C5ISR combat model in the world, suitable for the needs and combat conditions of the Army, some of which have more advanced and modern combat and technical features than similar products in the world. The products provided to the Army not only ensure safety but also help save tens of thousands of billions of VND for the State budget.

As the number 1 legal entity in Vietnam registered and granted industrial property rights, Viettel currently owns 136 patents in Vietnam and 30 patents in the US. All projects and inventions are independently developed by Vietnamese experts from research to manufacturing, not only saving thousands of billions of VND in research and production costs but also ensuring operational secrecy and information security, determining the effectiveness of the country's defense system.

Viettel contributes to the formation of the cyber security industry in Vietnam, setting the mission of building a healthy cyberspace for people to live more safely.

Viettel is the number 1 information security service provider in Vietnam, accounting for 40% of the number of information security products recommended for use by the Ministry of Information and Communications.

Owning a team of information security experts recognized in the world arena with the achievement of finding more than 400 zero-day security vulnerabilities (vulnerabilities that have never been announced). In 2023, Viettel won the championship at the world's largest security vulnerability exploitation competition Pwn2Own; held the No. 1 position in the world's security expert rankings BugCrowd, honored by many large technology companies such as Microsoft, Google, Facebook, Oracle in the top security experts with the most valuable contributions.

Early promulgation of strategy on building "Leading Cranes" for the economy

At the meeting, Viettel leaders proposed that the Party and the State soon issue a strategy on building a “leading crane” for the economy and accompanying mechanisms and policies. Building a “leading crane” and accompanying mechanisms is a decisive step to build state-owned enterprises that play a leading role in paving the way, connecting the private sector, mastering technology, forming innovation chains... contributing to building a self-reliant and strong national economy.

At the same time, Viettel proposed that the Party, State and Ministry of National Defense continue to promote economic diplomacy, thereby creating favorable conditions for businesses to cooperate and learn technology from major partners in the world, attract high-quality human resources to Vietnam, and at the same time open up opportunities to export high-tech industrial products...

Viettel must continue to become a model of state-owned enterprises.

Speaking at the meeting, President Vo Van Thuong said that after visiting the site and listening to reports from the group and its units, the President was very impressed with Viettel's operational results.

The President praised Viettel as a leading and effective economic group, a model of a pioneering State-owned enterprise in implementing the national strategy in the fields of telecommunications-information technology and high-tech defense industry. At the same time, he praised Viettel as a pioneering and effective enterprise in investing abroad, doing large-scale business in the high-tech industry... The President also said that the Party and the State highly appreciate Viettel's efforts in pioneering and being the main force in creating Vietnam's digital society; as an enterprise with high social responsibility with large and effective social programs.

With Viettel's current role and position, the President said that in the coming time, Viettel must do something to maintain its leading position, as well as to become even bigger. "Our efforts must be higher, our determination must be greater, with an attacking spirit, ready for all assigned tasks" - President Vo Van Thuong emphasized.

Regarding specific tasks, the President requested Viettel to continue to become a model of state-owned enterprises; to be the core in building a high-tech defense industrial complex, focusing on high-tech weapons and equipment, meeting the needs of protecting the Fatherland. Along with that, Viettel continues to build a modern, synchronous, and comprehensive digital infrastructure platform; research and manufacture telecommunications electronic equipment, focusing on telecommunications network equipment; develop tools and solutions to ensure network security; promote overseas investment in telecommunications, as well as provide services and export other products to the world.

In the context of the strong development of the 4.0 industrial revolution, the President requested that Viettel promote the development of tools and solutions to ensure network security and cyber operations, focusing on protecting information safety and security in cyberspace.

The President believes that with its creative approach and rich tradition, Viettel will continue to reap many new victories, worthy of the trust entrusted by the Party, Government and people.

The President noted that Viettel always promotes the spirit of a soldier, the bravery of Uncle Ho's soldiers, always respects the law, is efficient, and is responsible to society in business; is always internally united, not complacent or subjective; ensures a good life and working environment for cadres and employees.

The President acknowledged Viettel's recommendations and will work with relevant agencies to come up with specific and timely solutions. The President believes that with its creative approach and long-standing tradition, Viettel will continue to reap many new successes, worthy of the trust entrusted by the Party, Government and people.
