On the afternoon of June 19, at the Presidential Palace, President Vo Van Thuong received a delegation of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation led by Chief Justice Lebedev Vyacheslav Mikhailovich who is on a working visit to Vietnam.
Welcoming Chief Justice Lebedev Vyacheslav Mikhailovich and the delegation of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation to visit and work in Vietnam, President Vo Van Thuong believes that the visit will strongly promote the good cooperation between the two countries' courts, while deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.
Respectfully delivering President Vladimir Putin's letter to President Vo Van Thuong, Mr. Lebedev Vyacheslav Mikhailovich said that President Vladimir Putin emphasized that the long-standing traditional friendship with Vietnam is one of the priorities in the foreign relations of the Russian Federation.
The Russian Federation aims to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in all areas, including priority areas of cooperation in the 2022-2023 period. The Russian Federation attaches great importance to and highly appreciates the results of the work of the Intergovernmental Commission of the two countries.
In the context of the current complicated international situation, the two countries need to expand cooperation in areas such as oil and gas, economics , investment, agriculture, etc.; cooperation between the Courts and judicial agencies of the two countries.
Informing about the activities of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation and the content of cooperation with the Supreme People's Court of Vietnam, Chief Justice Lebedev Vyacheslav Mikhailovich said that the two sides have strengthened cooperation to improve the quality of trials to ensure fairness, democracy, and compliance with the law. The two sides agreed to increase delegation exchanges, support capacity, and improve knowledge and professional qualifications for judges and court officials at all levels.
President Vo Van Thuong respectfully thanked the Chief Justice for delivering the letter from President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin; through the Chief Justice, the President sent his thanks and expressed his agreement with the contents mentioned by President Vladimir Putin in the letter; especially the continued promotion of the long-standing traditional friendship between the two countries in all fields, especially in the context of the current complicated developments in the world and the region.
The President affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to the comprehensive strategic partnership with the Russian Federation, considering it a top priority partner. Vietnam wishes to promote Vietnam-Russia cooperation to become increasingly in-depth and effective, meeting the practical interests of the two peoples, for peace, stability and development in the region and the world.
Referring to the success of the official visit to Vietnam by Chairman of the United Russia Party Dmitry Medvedev in May 2023, the President said that this visit by the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation will continue to make an important contribution to the development of cooperative relations between the two countries.
Appreciating the good cooperation results of the two countries' judiciary, President Vo Van Thuong agreed that the two agencies should maintain delegation exchanges; coordinate in professional activities; regularly coordinate and share views and positions on regional and international issues; maintain annual evaluation of cooperation results and add new cooperation contents in an increasingly practical and effective direction.
The President emphasized that the Vietnamese Court plays a very important role in implementing the "Strategy for building and perfecting the Socialist Rule of Law State of Vietnam to 2030, with a vision to 2045"; which includes many contents related to improving the efficiency of the Court system.
Vietnam encourages international cooperation between the Vietnamese judiciary and the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation and courts of other countries to share information and professional experience and improve the legal and judicial systems.
The President believes that in the coming time, the Courts of the two countries will continue to strengthen cooperation; actively contribute to the development of each country, and strengthen the traditional cooperative relationship between the two peoples.
