Circular No. 23/2021/TT-BTC of the Ministry of Finance stipulates that from July 1, 2022, imported tobacco and alcohol products or those produced for domestic consumption must have electronic stamps instead of using multidimensional barcode stamps. Tobacco and alcohol products produced for domestic consumption use electronic tobacco stamps and electronic alcohol stamps printed and issued by the General Department of Taxation.
Electronic stamps are stamps that have signs of recognition by the naked eye such as alcohol stamps and cigarette stamps printed with multidimensional barcodes that are currently in use, but have a new feature of containing electronic information and data that can be looked up on the General Department of Taxation's Electronic Information Portal to serve the management of businesses, consumers and state management agencies.
