At the 10th Session on October 28, the National Assembly reviewed the Report of the National Assembly's Supervisory Delegation on the implementation of policies and laws on environmental protection since the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 took effect, and discussed in the hall. The results reported by the Supervisory Delegation to the National Assembly clearly show the positive aspects in the work of managing, preserving and protecting the environment nationwide.

Many issues and contents raised by National Assembly delegates are of high quality and practical at the grassroots level. Many opinions are highly constructive and clarify the classification, collection and treatment of waste at source. Although there are clear regulations for this, many localities have not yet implemented it or have implemented it with limited results, not ensuring consistency.

People in many places have not yet formed the habit of separating recyclable waste, organic waste and other types of waste. Infrastructure and technology for waste classification and treatment are still lacking and do not meet the requirements. Support policies are still limited, there is a lack of effective pilot models, and monitoring and punishment work is not strict, leading to the implementation of legal regulations being formalistic and ineffective.

According to voter Lo Van Quy, Chairman of the People's Committee of Long He commune, in the National Assembly meeting this morning (October 28), the Report of the Supervisory Delegation fully reflected the results achieved and pointed out the causes, shortcomings and limitations. During the discussion session, the delegates made frank, practical and feasible recommendations and proposals so that this Supervisory Resolution must be a practical resolution, clear about the people, clear about the work, and achieve higher efficiency; at the same time, there needs to be a mechanism for public and transparent data for society to monitor together. Thanks to that, the draft's targets such as reducing air pollution, increasing the rate of urban wastewater treatment, reducing landfill waste... help the environment and air become cleaner, industrial parks and rivers in major cities across the country become cleaner, urban areas become more livable, and waste becomes a resource of the country.

According to the report of the Monitoring Delegation, the promulgation and implementation of policies and laws on environmental protection have achieved many outstanding, important and positive results. The Delegation found that a number of provisions of the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 have not met practical requirements; the organization and implementation still have some limitations and shortcomings. Specifically, the implementation of a number of urgent measures to handle and overcome environmental pollution has not been timely, leading to the pollution situation in some places still being complicated, at times at a serious level. In particular, air pollution is a burning issue in some large cities such as Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City...

In addition, the synchronous investment in infrastructure for collecting and treating domestic wastewater in urban areas, industrial clusters, and craft villages has not received due attention. Technical infrastructure for treating domestic waste is still backward, and direct burial still accounts for a high proportion...
