Preparing to move 11 more bus routes to the new Eastern Bus Station

TPO – From August 1, 11 fixed bus routes from Ho Chi Minh City to Binh Duong province will be moved from the old Mien Dong Bus Station (Binh Thanh District) to the new Mien Dong Bus Station in Thu Duc City.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has just sent a document to the Ministry of Transport and the Department of Roads proposing a list of fixed inter-provincial passenger transport routes to be relocated from the Eastern Bus Station (Binh Thanh District) to the new Eastern Bus Station (Thu Duc City).

Accordingly, it is expected that from August 1, 11 fixed bus routes from Ho Chi Minh City to Binh Duong will be moved to the new Mien Dong Bus Station to promote the efficiency of the bus station.

Interprovincial bus routes from the new Mien Dong Bus Station to Binh Duong province will have a travel distance of 40km - 100km, travel time of 30-60 minutes, with about 30-60 departures/day.

The new Eastern Bus Station (Thu Duc City) will be operational from October 2020. In the first phase of operation, 22 routes running from Quang Tri province to the North (from 1,100km or more) will be transferred from the old station to the new bus station.

By October 2022, Saigon Transport Corporation (Samco - investor of the new Eastern Bus Station) officially implemented the second phase of relocation with 79 fixed bus routes to 15 provinces and cities (Thua Thien - Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Lam Dong, Dong Nai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Ben Tre, Can Tho, Ca Mau) from the old Eastern Bus Station (Binh Thanh District) to the new bus station (Thu Duc City).

At the old station, there are only a few routes to the Central Highlands and the provinces of Tuyen Quang, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, following National Highway 14.
