Join hands to support housing for people with meritorious services

Supporting people with meritorious services to the revolution in housing is a major policy of our Party and State, demonstrating the profound humane policy of "repaying gratitude" to those who have contributed to the cause of national liberation and national defense. In our province, in recent years, the policy of supporting housing improvement for families of people with meritorious services has always received attention from all levels, sectors and localities, creating a spread throughout society.

With the attention and support of Party committees, authorities, organizations and philanthropists, the family of veteran Nguyen Van Ly, a 4/4-class disabled soldier in Bach Hac ward (Viet Tri city) has a new, solid and spacious house.

Identifying the work of caring for people with meritorious services as an important political task, in which housing support policy for people with meritorious services is a key task, Party committees, authorities, and socio-political organizations from the provincial to district and commune levels have closely and resolutely led and directed to create high consensus and unity among all classes of people.

Every year, based on the actual situation, localities conduct a review of beneficiaries so that housing support for people with meritorious services is timely, ensuring the right people and regulations. The authorities quickly coordinate to carry out procedures for converting purposes, allocating land, and granting land use right certificates to families and individuals who are still stuck with land issues. At the same time, promote propaganda work, mobilize the entire political system and all classes of people to join hands and contribute to housing support for people with meritorious services... Therefore, housing support for people with meritorious services has become a widespread movement. In addition to the state budget, funding to support improving housing conditions for people with meritorious services and families of martyrs is also mobilized from contributions from organizations, individuals and many other legal sources.

Along with that, the inspection, supervision and guidance of localities in implementing support for meritorious people as well as resolving the recommendations of meritorious people related to housing support are all timely implemented by competent agencies and authorities at all levels. The acceptance work is completed and the funding allocation is carried out seriously, in accordance with regulations on management, allocation and settlement of funding sources to support meritorious people in housing.

The Provincial Association of War Veterans coordinated with the Association of War Veterans of Thanh Ba district and Dong Thanh commune to present a house of gratitude to War Veterans member Vi Van Vu in zone 14, Dong Thanh commune.

In recent years, thousands of families of meritorious people in the province have received financial support to build and repair houses. In 2024 alone, from the amount mobilized from the "Repaying gratitude" Fund at all levels, the support of the Central Government, contributions from agencies, enterprises inside and outside the province, from the community, families, and clans, our province has supported the repair and construction of 14 gratitude houses with a cost of over 720 million VND; supported nearly 800 working days to help families with meritorious services repair and build gratitude houses, overcome the consequences of storm No. 3 - Yagi ... These are specific and practical actions to care for the lives of families with meritorious services, contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of people with meritorious services and families with meritorious services, strengthening the great solidarity bloc, maintaining political security, social order and safety in the locality.

However, in reality, the number of poor households facing housing difficulties in the province is still large, arising and increasing every year, directly affecting the lives of people, especially those with revolutionary contributions and relatives of martyrs. In this situation, on February 21, 2025, the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 351/QD-UBND approving the "Housing support project for those with revolutionary contributions and relatives of martyrs in the province in 2025". The estimated budget is 51.3 billion VND from the State budget to build, renovate and repair 1,265 houses; of which 445 houses will be newly built and 820 houses will be renovated and repaired. The specific support level is 60 million VND/household for new house construction and 30 million VND/household for house repair and renovation.

To achieve that goal, from the beginning of the year, our province has stepped up propaganda and mobilization to maximize the ability to mobilize all social resources in the spirit of "leaving no one behind". With the efforts of the entire political system, by the end of the first quarter of 2025, the whole province had implemented the construction of 343 houses for people with meritorious services; of which 146 were newly built and 197 were renovated and repaired.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy - Head of the Department of Meritorious People (Department of Home Affairs) emphasized: The implementation of housing support for meritorious people in the province has brought about practical results, contributing to improving the quality of life of meritorious people's families. Each house of meritorious people that is repaired or newly built and put into use is a noble gesture with the desire to express gratitude for the great sacrifices and contributions of heroic martyrs and meritorious people for their homeland and country. At the same time, it affirms the correctness in policy making, contributing to strengthening the trust and consensus among the people in the leadership of our Party and State, further illuminating the fine tradition of "When drinking water, remember its source" of the Vietnamese people.
