Strengthening the fight against, preventing and repelling smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods

On May 27, the Working Group of the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee 389 had a working session with the Provincial Steering Committee 389 on the inspection and urging of the implementation of Official Dispatch No. 65/CD-TTg dated May 15, 2025 of the Prime Minister on launching a peak period to fight against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and infringement of intellectual property rights.

In recent times, the functional agencies of the Provincial Steering Committee 389 have made great efforts and determination in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and goods infringing intellectual property rights. They have strengthened the implementation of professional measures according to assigned fields and areas; at the same time, proactively developed and implemented key thematic plans on the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods. Thereby, many cases and subjects violating the provisions of the law have been detected, fought, prevented, and handled. However, the situation of smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and goods infringing intellectual property rights in the province is still complicated. For the purpose of profit, subjects still commit illegal acts, produce and trade counterfeit goods, goods of unknown origin, affecting the health of consumers, negatively impacting social order... In the first 5 months of the year, authorities inspected and handled 263 violations. Collected nearly 15 billion VND for the state budget.

At the meeting, members of the Provincial Steering Committee 389 expressed their opinions on the implementation and coordination with functional agencies in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods; at the same time, they pointed out some difficulties in the implementation process such as: Funding for checking the quality of goods on the market is still limited; subjects often change methods and tricks to avoid detection and handling by functional forces...

After listening to the opinions of representatives of local departments, branches and central agencies, the leaders of the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee 389 highly appreciated the results achieved by Phu Tho province in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and goods infringing intellectual property rights in the first months of 2025 and the implementation of the Prime Minister's Official Dispatch No. 65.

In the coming time, the leaders of the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee 389 requested members of the Provincial Steering Committee 389 to continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the Directives, Telegrams, and directions of the Government, the Prime Minister , and the Head of the National Steering Committee 389 on the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods. Quickly implement the consolidation of the Provincial Steering Committee 389; improve the effectiveness of coordination between functional forces in local management. Strictly inspect and control key goods, especially focusing on inspection and handling in the e-commerce environment, not allowing the emergence of complicated groups and gathering places for transporting and trading in smuggled goods, counterfeit goods, goods of unknown origin, etc. Strengthen propaganda work, help people recognize and distinguish counterfeit goods, poor quality goods, goods of unknown origin; not participate in or assist in smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods. At the same time, the Provincial Steering Committee 398 is required to strictly implement the periodic reporting regime according to regulations on anti-smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the province in the coming time.
