Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi said that in recent years, the Party Committee and the city government have focused on socio -economic development, ensuring social security, and constantly striving to become a city where people enjoy a healthy living environment and comprehensive development. This journey of sustainable development cannot be without the contribution of population work.

“In the context of population aging and rapid changes in the global population structure, population management and development in a reasonable and quality manner is extremely important. This is a key factor not only for Da Nang to develop strongly economically but also to improve the quality of life for all people,” said the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee.

At the same time, it is believed that, with the development orientation in the coming time, the city needs to continue to promote the advantages of the golden population structure, care for and support the elderly in the context of population aging. The work of adjusting the birth rate appropriately, taking care of reproductive health for young people and adolescents, screening, diagnosing and treating prenatal and neonatal diseases also needs to be focused on to ensure high-quality human resources for the long-term development of the city.

Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi spoke at the rally to celebrate Vietnam Population Day on December 26 and launch the first phase of the population communication campaign in 2025.

“Population and development work is not only the responsibility of the health sector, but also the task of all levels, sectors and organizations. On this occasion, I call on all agencies, organizations and each citizen to join hands, cooperate and make efforts to carry out population work in the most effective way. In particular, I believe that, with the strong direction of General Secretary To Lam on “New Development Era - Era of the Vietnamese people's rise”, population and development work will be one of the important pillars for us to build a strong, prosperous and sustainable Da Nang”, Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi emphasized.

In recent times, with many synchronous solutions and good models and practices, Da Nang has initially made progress in improving the quality of its population, from reproductive health care, prenatal and neonatal disease screening, to health care for the elderly. These efforts have contributed to increasing the average life expectancy of Da Nang residents, from 72 years old (in 2010) to 76.3 years old (in 2024), exceeding the national average.

In particular, communication work to raise awareness about population plays an important role, contributing to the goal of health and happiness of each family and sustainable development of the city.

This year's National Action Month on Population and Vietnam Population Day (December 26) with the theme "Improving population quality for a prosperous country and happy families" is an opportunity for the city to continue promoting communication and mobilizing people to participate in pre-marital health consultation and examination, especially those at high risk.
