Join hands to spread love to women in border areas

In the period of 2021-2025, the Women's Union (WU) at all levels in the province has closely coordinated with the Border Guard (BĐBP) and units, organizations and individuals to implement many practical social security programs towards border areas. These activities not only contribute to improving material and spiritual life but also create momentum for sustainable economic development, helping many women gradually escape poverty and stabilize their lives.

Efficiency from livelihood model

In 2022, responding to the call of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union, the Tay Ninh Provincial Women's Union coordinated with the Provincial Border Guard to launch a text message program to support the livelihood model for women in the border areas via the number 1409. The program received a positive response from cadres, members, soldiers and people in the province, with more than 5,000 text messages, equivalent to over 100 million VND.

From the mobilized funds, the Association has supported the livelihoods of 10 poor, single, and disabled women households in Hoa Hoi Commune (Chau Thanh District). Each household was supported with 10 million VND in interest-free form, paid in installments over 24 months to develop cattle and pig farming, improving their lives. The support was implemented with the motto of giving "fishing rods" and instructing on effective "fishing" methods, helping women to rise up and escape poverty on their own.

The family of Ms. Phan Thi Le (Hoa An hamlet, Hoa Hoi commune) is one of the typical cases. Being near-poor, her family's life used to be difficult. When the Association supported her with capital to buy breeding cows, and at the same time instructed her on care and disease prevention techniques, she and her husband worked hard, and now the herd has grown to 6 cows. Ms. Le sold 2 cows to cover living expenses, and now has 4 healthy cows left. Thanks to the income from raising cattle, the family's economy has gradually stabilized, her children have better education conditions, and her family has also escaped poverty.

Sharing about the changes in her family, Ms. Phan Thi Le emotionally said: “Before, my husband and I only worked for hire, with unstable income. Thanks to the Women's Union's support of capital and guidance on animal husbandry, I was able to have a stable business. Thanks to the first cow, my family no longer has to struggle to make ends meet. I am very grateful to the Union.”

In addition, the Association at all levels closely coordinates with the Border Guard force in the work of twinning and sponsoring border communes. Up to now, 4/4 inland districts and towns have been twinning and sponsoring at least one border commune. Many meaningful activities such as building charity houses, granting scholarships, issuing health insurance cards, supporting start-ups, and visiting and giving gifts to poor women have been maintained regularly. As of the end of April 2025, the total resources mobilized for activities to support women and children in border areas had reached more than 30 billion VND.

Ms. Phan Thi Thuy Van - President of the Provincial Women's Union said: "The social security and livelihood support activities implemented by the Union not only have the meaning of providing immediate material support to women in border areas, but also of solidarity, sharing, and guidance on how to do business effectively, gradually improving the quality of life. This is also a long journey with the sense of responsibility, affection and cooperation of the entire Union system, along with the Border Guard forces. We believe that when women in border areas stabilize their economy and confidently take control of their lives, it is also an important factor contributing to maintaining security and sustainable development in border areas."

Join hands to share and build a happy family

In 2021, when the Covid-19 epidemic broke out strongly, the Tay Ninh border became one of the "hot spots" in the work of preventing and fighting the epidemic. In that situation, the Association at all levels proactively coordinated with the Border Guard force to promote propaganda and mobilize people to effectively implement the "dual goal" - both preventing and fighting the epidemic and stabilizing economic development; implementing many practical activities to support frontline forces, people in quarantine areas and blockade areas such as: donating over 50,000 masks, 20,000 leaflets on epidemic prevention, 3,000 sets of medical protective clothing and more than 50 tons of vegetables and fruits; the total value of support activities is over 12 billion VND.

In particular, the “Godmother” program launched by the Association has spread widely in the community. The province currently has 329 orphans, including 87 orphans due to Covid-19. To date, 243 children have been adopted, of which 96 have been supported until the age of 18, with a total fund raised of more than 2.8 billion VND.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhan, President of the Women's Union of Chau Thanh district said: "We always strive to accompany the children like family members, not only helping them have the conditions to go to school but also helping them overcome mental difficulties, live more optimistically and positively."

The campaign “Building a family of 5 no’s and 3 clean’s” continues to be effectively implemented in 100% of border communes. After 5 years of implementation, more than 6,000 households have met all 8 criteria of the campaign, many of which have risen out of poverty according to multidimensional criteria; contributing to improving the quality of life for members and women and creating a clear change in building a civilized lifestyle and protecting the environment in border areas.

The remarkable results in social security coordination work show the sense of responsibility, creativity and deep humanity in every action of the Women's Union at all levels and the Border Guard force of Tay Ninh province. All are directed towards the border area - a place that not only preserves territorial sovereignty but also needs care and sharing so that each person and each woman here can live better, more fully and confidently rise up in life.
