Join hands for the sustainable development of Huong Hoa tourism

After much anticipation, in early 2025, the Huong Hoa District Tourism Association was established to the joy of not only its members but also local officials and people. On this occasion, Quang Tri Newspaper reporters interviewed Mr. TRAN THAI THIEN, Chairman of the Huong Hoa District Tourism Association, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Vietnam - Khe Sanh Agricultural Tourism Cooperative, about the past journey of great efforts and the association's steps in the coming time.

- First of all, thank you for taking the time to answer the interview of Quang Tri Newspaper. It is known that in early 2025, Huong Hoa District Tourism Association was officially established. Could you please share this good news with Quang Tri Newspaper readers?

- This is truly a memorable milestone, good news not only for those working in coffee, services and tourism in Huong Hoa but also for the socio -economic development of the district. The birth of the Huong Hoa District Tourism Association is the result of a process of nurturing and tireless efforts of people who are passionate about this land. We believe that, with an official organization, gathering the strength of many units and individuals operating in the field of coffee, services and tourism, Huong Hoa will have stronger and more sustainable steps forward in the future.

- Why did you and like-minded people actively participate, join hands, and contribute to the establishment of the Huong Hoa District Tourism Association?

- Huong Hoa possesses great tourism potential, from heroic revolutionary historical sites such as Ta Con Airport, Khe Sanh, Road 9 - Southern Laos to the wild, majestic natural beauty with waterfalls and mysterious caves. This is also a land that converges the unique cultural identities of many ethnic groups. In particular, Huong Hoa has famous delicious coffee specialties. However, Huong Hoa tourism has not really developed commensurate with its available potential. Therefore, we recognize the need for an organization to gather and link units, businesses and individuals operating in the industry, creating a common voice, combined strength to promote and build quality, professional and more effective tourism products. That is the biggest motivation that urges us to work together to realize the establishment of the Huong Hoa District Tourism Association.

- How have you and the members worked during this time?

-More than 2 years ago, the members and I sat together, exchanged, discussed and came to a common determination to contribute to the establishment of the Huong Hoa District Tourism Association. To achieve that goal, we actively surveyed and evaluated the current status of tourism activities in the area and listened to the opinions of units, businesses, and tourism workers... With great efforts, the members of the group created Khe Sanh coffee tour, leaving a deep impression, attracting a large number of domestic and international tourists. Along with that, we together spread and shared beautiful images of our homeland to everyone such as: Phong Huong forest; cloud hunting spots; grasslands; Ta Puong waterfall, Chenh Venh waterfall... Not only that, the group has participated in and organized many seminars and talks, attracting the attention of many people. With high consensus, we have built the association's operating charter, carried out the necessary legal procedures to establish the association in accordance with regulations. In addition, we have also had meetings and discussions with leaders of relevant departments, agencies and sectors with the hope of receiving support and guidance.

From our efforts, we have received enthusiastic responses from many organizations and individuals operating in the fields of coffee, services and tourism in the district. That has further strengthened our confidence and determination. The gratifying result is that on January 10, 2025, the Huong Hoa District Tourism Association was established according to Decision No. 45/QD-UBND, dated January 10, 2025 of the Huong Hoa District People's Committee. Recently, in early April 2025, we held the 1st Congress, term 2025 - 2030.

- What does the establishment of Huong Hoa District Tourism Association mean to its members and the local socio-economic development, sir?

- For members, the association will be a common home to share experiences, cooperate in product development, improve service quality, protect legitimate rights and promote Huong Hoa tourism effectively. For the socio-economic development of the locality, the association will contribute to creating many job opportunities, increasing income for people, preserving and promoting traditional cultural values, and at the same time promoting the development of other economic sectors related to coffee and tourism. We expect coffee and tourism to become a key economic sector, contributing increasingly to the sustainable development of Huong Hoa.

- It is known that although newly established, Huong Hoa District Tourism Association has built specific goals and solutions for the association's activities in the coming time. What are those plans, sir?

- In the coming time, we will focus on a number of key goals and solutions. Regarding building and promoting the Huong Hoa coffee and tourism brand, we will step up promotion and advertising activities on media channels, participate in coffee and tourism events inside and outside the province. Along with that, the association will encourage and support members to develop new, unique tourism products imbued with local cultural identity, while improving the quality of existing services. In particular, we focus on community tourism, eco-tourism, and agricultural tourism associated with typical products of Huong Hoa. Understanding the importance of association and cooperation, we will strengthen the association among members of the association, as well as cooperate with tourism units and businesses inside and outside the province to create tourism value chains and expand the market. The association focuses on improving the capacity of tourism staff. We will organize training courses, foster knowledge and skills for members and workers in the tourism industry to meet the increasing demands of tourists. The association will pay attention to the conservation and promotion of cultural values ​​and natural resources in the area. We are deeply aware of the importance of preserving cultural and historical heritages and protecting the natural environment. This is a solid foundation for the sustainable development of tourism in Huong Hoa. In the near future, the association will also coordinate with the Quang Tri Flower Road Fund to implement a project to plant 1 million cherry trees.

- Do you have anything to share with tourists - those who are always interested in the development of tourism in Huong Hoa?

- Huong Hoa is a land rich in historical traditions, rich in culture and possessing majestic natural beauty. In addition, the locality has a developed agriculture with many specialties such as: coffee, banana, pepper... We believe that, with the establishment of the District Tourism Association, Huong Hoa tourism will have strong changes, bringing you interesting and memorable experiences. We are committed to building quality tourism products, attentive and friendly services to satisfy you.
