Special art program honoring the contributions of musician Hoang Van

The art program “For Ever After” honoring musician Hoang Van took place at Ho Guom Theater, Hanoi. At the event, UNESCO awarded a certificate recognizing “The Collection of Musician Hoang Van” as a World Documentary Heritage.

On the evening of July 24, a special art program "For the next generations" - introducing typical works of musician Hoang Van was held at Ho Guom Theater, Hanoi .

The event was directed by the Department of Political Work, Ministry of Public Security , Ho Guom Theater, to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), the 80th anniversary of the People's Public Security Forces' Traditional Day, the 20th anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection, and the 95th anniversary of musician Hoang Van's birth.

In the solemn atmosphere of the art program, the representative of the United Nations Educational , Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) awarded the Certificate of Recognition of "Musician Hoang Van's Collection" as a World Documentary Heritage to the musician's family.

The special art program "For the next generations" is directed by Major General, People's Artist Nguyen Cong Bay, Conductor Le Phi Phi conducts the music night, and the program script is performed by Dr. Le Y Linh.

The program features performances by People's Artist Co Huy Hung (moon lute), People's Artist Xuan Binh (mono-bass), People's Artist Vuong Ha (poetry recitation), Meritorious Artist Dang Duong; singers Trong Tan, Dao To Loan, Thanh Le, Bui Trang, Tran Trang, Truong Linh; artists Trinh Huong (piano), Thu Huong (flute), Anh Linh (bamboo flute), Quyen Thien Dac (saxophone), Nguyen Minh Tan (accordion), Binh Son (piano), Oplus group...

The program introduces typical works by musician Hoang Van with themes praising the Communist Party of Vietnam; praising the great President Ho Chi Minh; praising exemplary soldiers, including the People's Public Security force.

Those works carry the strong sounds of the homeland and country and are pure yet majestic melodies carrying the memories and ideals of a generation of musicians and soldiers on the cultural front; they are voices from the heart representing a peace-loving nation.

Through his works, musician Hoang Van has contributed with many generations of musicians to foster love for the Fatherland, arouse national pride and the will to build the country.

The special art program “For the next generation” consists of 2 chapters. Chapter 1 has the theme “Reminiscence” and includes selected works, recalling historical milestones to future aspirations, recorded with the sounds of the musician’s own life. The audience has the opportunity to enjoy the works “Symphony No. II ”, Remembrance (Chapter 1) by musician Hoang Van.

The emotional highlight of the program was the musical composition of the poem “Night Scene” by President Ho Chi Minh, with conductor Le Phi Phi restoring the author’s original text.

Besides that, there are revolutionary songs that have been around for years such as "I am a miner", "That soldier" , "Song of traffic and transport" .

The work “My dear Quang Binh” was renewed with the combination of the moon lute of People's Artist Co Huy Hung and the Symphony Orchestra, a creative blend of tradition and modernity.

Chapter II “For the next generation” - opens up a bright and vibrant space, expressing the spirit of construction and the beauty of a peaceful country.

From the emotional transition point through the work "Lullaby in the Fireworks Night" , the program takes viewers to childhood memories through the Suite for children: "I love my school", "The yellow-ringed bird", "The season of blooming royal poinciana flowers" , along with melodies spanning across the country's homelands such as: "Central Highlands love song", "Sailor's heart song", "Singing about today's rice plant", "Song of the People's Teacher" ...

The program ended with the mashup "For today, for tomorrow, for eternity" , like a song of joy, praising peace, love and the eternal aspiration of the Vietnamese people.

Musician Hoang Van (1930 -2015) is one of the great names of Vietnamese music. He left behind more than 700 works of diverse forms, genres and formats: songs, choirs, film music, symphonies, instrumental music, children's music... a rich heritage in which many works have become cultural symbols, accompanying the country.

With his extensive musical knowledge, serious artistic work spirit and strong patriotism, musician Hoang Van has created works that have a lasting vitality in the hearts of the public. He was awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize for Literature and Arts in 2000.

On April 10, 2025 in Paris (France), the UNESCO Executive Board inscribed "The Collection of Musician Hoang Van" of Vietnam into the List of World Documentary Heritage.

This is the first time a Vietnamese individual's music collection has been listed, bringing the total number of Vietnam's documentary heritages in the Memory of the World Program to 11, including 4 World Documentary Heritages and 7 Asia-Pacific Documentary Heritages.

The collection of documents by musician Hoang Van includes 700 works, composed from 1951 to 2010. This collection reflects one of the historical turning points of Vietnamese music, the changes of the country and the spiritual life of the people through many periods.

With the harmonious combination of European classical music and folk music, his works not only have artistic value but are also valuable documents serving the research of Vietnamese culture, society and music history./.
